Nashville, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Rockie Lynne Official Website) - Country star Rockie Lynne has contributed the leadoff track to a new compilation CD that raises money for the survivors and families of victims of last year's I-35W Bridge collapse disaster in Minneapolis.

Lynne, a longtime Minnesota resident, wrote, recorded and co-produced 'The Chance To Say Goodbye' specifically for the project, put together by pro audio equipment manufacturer Electro-Voice (EV) and its parent company, Robert Bosch North America LLC.

The three-CD compilation, featuring a diverse array of national artists, is titled 'Musicians for Minneapolis: 57 Songs for the I-35W Bridge Disaster Relief Effort' and is currently available at retail locations. One hundred percent of the proceeds go to the Minnesota Helps Bridge Disaster Fund. Other artists on the project include Los Lobos, Stray Cats, Jim Lauderdale, Steve Vai, Bobby Bare Jr., Pete Anderson and Jason & The Scorchers. The eclectic CD encompasses multiple genres of music including country, folk, modern rock, metal, blues, Americana, jazz, funk, hip-hop, R&B, and reggae.

Explaining his participation in the project, Lynne says, 'Every time you see a tragedy on TV you think 'Oh my gosh, those poor people.' But when it's in your backyard there's a whole different feel to it. I was completely moved by the whole thing, and proud to be a part of the benefit CD.'

In the CD's liner notes, Lynne writes about how the state's residents banded together after the rush hour collapse in which 13 people lost their lives. 'In our darkest hour . . . Minnesota, as it always does, showed its strength and compassion,' he says. 'The angels came from everywhere. From the cars fortunate enough to be saved, from the surrounding homes and playgrounds, from our amazing police, fire and rescue workers. We pulled together. We showed the world grace, dignity, and honor as we wrapped our hearts around our fallen families, searched for survivors, and cared for our wounded. Minnesota exemplifies what America is all about.'
Rockie Lynne records for the independent label Robbins Nashville. His new single, 'I Can't Believe It's Me,' is currently climbing the charts.
