NASHVILLE, TN. (DreamWorks Nashville) - Country superstar
Toby Keith has been wearing Dorfman Pacific?s "Scala" western hats for years, so signing a licensing agreement with the country?s leading hat supplier for his own distinctive
Toby Keith Collection was an easy call.
"For a lot of Americans, a hat makes a statement and I guess I am no different," said Keith, whose new album, Honkytonk University, was just released May 17th. "I enjoy wearing one and I am happy that what I wear is now available to fans, people who might identify with me and my music, or anyone else who just feels like it."
The Toby Keith Collection will include popularly priced western hats and six baseball caps under the Dorfman Pacific brands, Scala and DPC, with retail prices ranging from $15 to $50, and a handful of more traditional and upscale western hats under the Milano brand in the $60 to $150 range. Both men's and women's collections will be shipped to western retails stores and department stores beginning mid-November.
Toby Keith is currently one of the hottest performers in music, and his fan base, and the target audience for the Toby Keith Collection, is vast. The Singer/songwriter and acclaimed entertainer finished last year as Billboard's 2004 Top Country Artist, Top Male Country Artist, Top Country Album Artist and Top Hot Country Singles & Tracks Artist. His release the previous year, "Shock'N Y'all," was also one of the top selling country offerings of the year, and his November release of "Greatest Hits 2" is nearing triple platinum and continues to be one of the genre's top sellers.
Keith remains one of country's top touring acts and a highly respected musician and songwriter.
Keith, the first country artist to perform an AOL Music Live concert with a record setting 850,000 downloads in the first 24 hours, released this month his new studio album, "Honkytonk University."
The first single, "Honkytonk U," is an autobiographical song that harkens back to days that Keith spent working in his grandmother's nightclub. His current single, "Good As I Once Was," is a song that comes from a saying that his dad used. Toby will be performing the cut on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno on June 8th as well as on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on June 9th. His national headlining tour "Toby Keith's Big Throwdown II" begins the following day on June 10 in Charlotte, NC.
"We are very excited to partner up with an American legend like Toby Keith," said Dorfman Pacific VP of Sales Scott Starnes. "He has always enjoyed wearing Scala hats, a very popular Dorfman Pacific brand, so it seemed like a natural fit to give his millions of loyal fans the chance to have a Toby Keith Collection hat."
Dorfman Pacific is the largest hat supplier operating in the United States. In addition to Scala, other labels included under its brand umbrella include Callanan, The Red Hat Society, Perry Ellis, Cubavera, Indiana Jones, DPC Global Trends and Outdoors, Christy's, Headers of California and Equator, while Milano's labels include Larry Mahan, Tuff Hedeman and Justin Authentic Headwear.
