Nov. 20-22 Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis and Special Guest Marcus Roberts

Who/What: The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis opens Jazz at Lincoln Center's Hall of Fame series of the 2008-09 season in a concert titled, "The Music of Thelonious Monk." Traditionally performed by small groups, this concert presents big band arrangements of Thelonious Monk's idiosyncratic compositions with one of the premiere interpreters of Monk's music, pianist Marcus Roberts. The concert will be hosted by Soledad O'Brien for the Thursday performance and by Courtney Vance on Friday and Saturday. This concert takes place in Rose Theater on November 20-22, 2008 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $30, $50, $75, $95 or $120 and can be purchased through www.jalc.org or CenterCharge at 212721-6500, open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased at the Jazz at Lincoln Center Box Office, located on Broadway at 60 th Street, ground floor. Box office hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. ? 6 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. ? 6 p.m.

Nov. 21-22 - Danilo Peerez Trio: Panamanian pianist and composer Danilo Peerez revisits his critically acclaimed release Panamonk and more in The Allen Room, blending Afro-Cuban rhythms and folkloric sounds with the intricate rhythms and originality of Monk's music. Rounding out Pe?rez's trio is Ben Street (bass) and Adam Cruz (drums). This series is part of Jazz at Lincoln Center's Smokin' Jazz Sessions. This all-star lineup will feature the music of Monk and more in Dizzy's Club CocaCola on November 21-23, 2008 at 7:30 p.m., 9:30 p.m. & 11:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Reservations are $30 Sunday; $35 Friday and Saturday; Student Rates: $15. The food and beverage minimum is in effect for all sets: $10 at the tables, $5 at the bar.
