New York, NY. (Top 40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - Shemekia Copeland is not afraid to evolve and grow as a musician. Her stunning rendition of Joni Mitchell's "Black Crow," from her album 'Never Going Back' (out 2.24.09 on Telarc) proves that Copeland isn't afraid to challenge herself to develop and progress along with the blues.

The young singer with the blues pedigree and feisty attitude explains, "Who's that girl think she is singing a Joni Mitchell song? Well I love Joni Mitchell and these are lyrics I can totally relate to. Besides I like a challenge and taking a risk."

The NY Times said Copeland "was born to belt. She has a big, bright voice with a switchblade rasp," which shines throughout 'Never Going Back,' but "Black Crow" displays a gentle sway and a soft linger in Copeland's singing that she's never revealed before.
Thanks to a soulful groove courtesy of the upright bass, "Black Crow" embraces Copeland's musical roots while showcasing the newer aspects of her style.
