LONDON, UK (Top40 Charts/ ICMP) On Friday 18th May, the
Institute of Contemporary
Music Performance welcomes drumming specialist Florian Alexandru-Zorn to give an exclusive masterclass to students at its facilities in Kilburn, London.
Hailing from Germany, Florian's musical career began in the progressive rock genre with bands such as Concrete Floor. At the age of 18 Florian was touring with Romuald Erenc (one of the most renowned jazz and classical guitar players in Poland) and his band through Poland and Germany, with whom he still plays.
Florian is now a full-time instructor, musician and author, specialising in brush playing. His drumming incorporates an array of styles from jazz to world music, hip hop and drum 'n' bass. In 2009 he toured with the European Masterclass BigBand (Peter Herbolzheimer). He also performs in a jazz group with Professor
Thomas Stabenow, and with his own Trio.
The masterclass will focus on The Art of Brushes: How to apply your own voice to the brushes. By gathering techniques from all genres including jazz, funk and reggae, Florian has assembled the most comprehensive and clear concept for brush technique available, from which he has authored his book 'The Brush Secret', released by Alfred
Music Publishing.
