New York, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - "Memorable and contagious" (NPR) singer Kat Edmonson will make her full album debut this summer with 'Take To The Sky,' 9 tracks of reinterpreted jazz standards and re-envisioned pop hits like The Cure's "Just Like Heaven" and The Cardigans' "Lovefool," all featuring Edmonson's cool, wispy voice backed by a group of young sidemen. The album includes guest appearances from Ron Westray (Wynton Marsalis) on trombone and John Ellis (Charlie Hunter) on sax and bass clarinet.

The rhythm section on 'Take To The Sky' includes J.J. Johnson on drums (John Mayer, Charlie Sexton), Eric Revis on bass (Grammy winner with the Branford Marsalis Quartet), Kevin Lovejoy on piano (Spoon, John Mayer) and Chris Lovejoy on percussion (Charlie Hunter, Norah Jones).

'Take To the Sky' was mixed at Los Angeles' Capitol Studios by 19-time Grammy winning engineer Al Schmitt. Schmitt produced the original recording of Henry Mancini's "Charade," which Kat reinvents on the album. He has also worked with Sam Cooke, Barbra Streisand and Frank Sinatra and says, "Kat Edmonson is the best new jazz singer I have heard in years."

The album is available now on iTunes and was one of the top ten most downloaded jazz albums for several weeks after its digital release earlier this year.

Edmonson will also be opening for Boz Scaggs in Fort Worth on May 13 and Austin on May 16.
