Chicago, IL (Top40 Charts/ Las Guitarras De Espana Official Website) Las Guitarras De Espana (The Guitars of Spain) presents "Flamenco Collaborations Series," featuring Spanish guitar-based music and dance as a foundation for creative dialogues with artists from Indian, African and Arabic music traditions. Chicago's rich cultural diversity provides a backdrop for this five concert series. This format, presented at Mayne Stage, 1328 W Morse Ave in Chicago's Rogers Park neighborhood, will allow artists to create new work together and to present these materials to audiences in an excellent venue.

The fourth concert in the series, Saturday, Sept. 24 at 7:30 PM (CST), will feature the most diverse and inspiring line-up yet. Indian, African, flamenco and modern music and dance come together in a very special presentation. Opening the evening will be Indian veena virtuoso Sara Ranganathan and her "Ensemble of Ragas." They will be presenting new arrangements of Indo-Jazz-Flamenco compositions along with traditional Bharatanatyam dance featuring Viji Ranganathan.
Next, Senegalese dancer Idy Ciss will lead an ensemble of rhythm and movement from the West African tradition. The evening will close with a Las Guitarras de Espana original work entitled "Music and Movement."
This composition, featuring modern, flamenco and African dance along with Spanish guitar melodies and rhythms, was originally presented in 2010 at the Chicago Cultural Center.
The piece has been updated for this performance. Modern dancer Nadine Lollino and flamenco dancer Wendy Clinard will join Idy Ciss for this new collaboration.
