NEW YORK (Top40 Charts/ SONY BMG) - With punk-rock energy and a Britpop sense of melody and pensiveness, Pastilla is one of alt-Latin music's most intriguing bands.

Their SONY BMG debut A Marte (a play on words which can mean "To Mars" or "To Love You") shows a band that doesn't see any contradiction between juxtaposing hallucinatory lyrics and sweet melodies with heart-pounding rock.

First single "A Marte" sums up Pastilla's appeal with a sing-along chorus of "te lo dije" ("I told you so"), a taut, frenetic beat, and jangly guitars that can attack or purr at a moment's notice. Even prior to the album's July 10 release, the single has already soared to No. 3 on Radio & Records' Latin Alternative airplay chart. It's also topping playlists at Mexican rock radio.

"A Marte" will be commercially released as a digital-download single on July 3.

The full album, which drops July 10, represents a milestone for Pastilla and SONY BMG - it's one of the first major U.S. releases in all-digital format. With a huge following on MySpace and a Web 2.0-savvy fan base, Pastilla is the perfect band to usher in this new era.

Appealing to fans of alt-rock, punk, New Wave, and Britpop, Pastilla has created a career-making album in A Marte. The album was produced by longtime collaborator Ernesto Ram?rez, with additional contributions by musician/producer/arranger Jorge "Chiquis" Amaro.

In Mexico City, Pastilla has performed at major shows, including the Vive Latino festival at Foro Sol, and the legendary venue Rockotitl?n.

The music video for "A Marte" is airing on major music channels (TV and Internet).
