LOS ANGELES (Costa Communications/ www.costacomm.com) - Tierra, one of the most celebrated Chicano R&B bands to emerge from East Los Angeles, headlines at the Sunset Strip's famed House of Blues, 8430 Sunset Blvd., on Thursday, June 30 at 8:30 pm (doors open at 7:30). For tickets, call 323-848-5100 or visit www.hob.com. Tierra is on a 22-city Record Release Tour to promote their latest album, Welcome to Caf? East L.A., just released on Thump Records.

Welcome to Cafe East L.A. is the band's first album of new material since 2001's acclaimed bilingual CD, Two Worlds/Dos Mundos. The songs may be new but the sound gives a nod to old-school with a signature seamless blend of Latin, Rock and R&B. The set kicks off with the title track, featuring Tierra's famed horn arrangements augmented by the guitar work of band leader Rudy Salas and the vocal skills of singer Billy Mondragon. The band delivers a loving tribute to late Tejano superstar Selena with the song 'Ojos Negro,' and brings Chicano rapmaster Mr. Capone-E to the party on the Salsa showstopper 'My Chiquita.' Tierra hits new heights with tracks including 'Feels So Good to be Loved So Bad,' 'Old School Jamz,' 'I Miss You So,' 'Sex the Night' and 'Marrano Beach Mambo.'

Tierra was the first Latino band to have four songs on the national charts and two songs simultaneously in the Top 100. The acclaimed nine-member troupe may be best known for its hit, 'Together,' a song which cracked the R&B Top Ten in 1980 and reached No 18 on the Pop charts, but they have also charted with their remake of the Delfonics' 'La La Means I Love You' and the group's own 'Gonna Find Her,' 'Memories,' and 'Zoot Suit Boogie.' They have been named 'Best R&B Vocal Group' by four leading music magazines, including Billboard.

Tierra is widely known to have played a role in opening doors for other Latino and non-Latino superstars of today, including comedian Paul Rodriguez, Arsenio Hall, Sheila E., Gloria Estefan, Los Lobos and Latino comic of the year, Rudy Moreno. They have performed on prestigious programs such as American Bandstand and the American Music Awards; and at venues including Carnegie Hall and the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.

'One of the best performances this reviewer has seen….' (C. Johnson/Los Angeles Times)
'Before Miami Sound Machine…before Los Lobos…Tierra was known as one of the country's reigning Latin bands.' (San Bernardino Sun)
'One of the great crossover bands of all time' (Music Connection)
'Tierra is as solid as their name' (Latin Style Magazine)
