U.A.E. (Top40 Charts/ Taking Of Pelham 1 2 3 Official Website) - Production of the remake of The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 began in March 2008, and the film is slated for release on June 5th, 2009 in the gulf. The film is a remake of the original 1974 film of the same name, which is based on the thriller novel.
Columbia Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (which owns the original film) are co-distributing the film, this being a result of Columbia parent Sony owning a stake in MGM since 2005.
Based on the John Godey novel that spawned the 1974 film adaptation, The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 is directed by Tony Scott. Filming took place on the lower level of the Manhattan Bridge, Tudor City including the 1st Ave tunnel under 42nd Street, Times Square area and Turtle Bay.

It was a big dilemma for screenwriter David Koepp, who recently adapted the novel for director Tony Scott and star Denzel Washington-

I wrote many drafts to try and put it in the present day and keep all the great execution that was there from the first one, he explained. It is thirty years later so you have to take certain things into account. Hopefully we came up with a clever way to move it to the present.

Not the least of which, of course, is that even forgetting for a moment the new technology, it is a terrorist situation in New York in a post-9/11 world, said Koepp.

In The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3- four men seize a New York City subway train and hold its passengers hostage in this classic thriller. They want money, and they will kill to get it. They aren't stopping for anything , unless a transit cop can make them. First published in 1972; first time in audio. The new movie stars Denzel Washington and John Travolta.

James Gandolfini portrays the mayor of New York City, who is under heavy pressure to address the hostage crisis. The character was originally portrayed by Lee Wallace in the 1974 film.
Denzel Washington stars as New York City subway dispatcher Walter Garber, whose ordinary day is thrown into chaos by an audacious crime: the hijacking of a subway train.
John Travolta stars as Ryder, the criminal mastermind who, as leader of a highly-armed gang of four, threatens to execute the train passengers unless a large ransom is paid within one hour.
Ramon Rodriguez portrays an MTA train dispatcher.
In the movie, Garber employs his vast knowledge of the subway system in a battle to outwit Ryder and save the hostages.
A big thanks mainly to Yahoo and You Tube. This film has created excitement all over the world. Fans think that Tony Scott is one of the best action directors in the past 20 years. So him and Denzil Washington are gold together.
Tony Scott style is often revolutionizing. The aesthetics of Days of Thunder, Crimson Tide and Spy Game and Domino were the forerunners for much of the filmmaking styles we see today.
The film The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 will be releasing on June 5th, 2009 in the gulf. Till then catch glimpses of the movie on the official website: http://www.thetakingofpelham123gulf.com
