NEW YORK (Top40 Charts/ ASCAP) - Hot ASCAP singer/songwriter, Ryan Gillmor received one of his highest honors to date...a chance for his music to be heard by the masses. The track he submitted for this year's American Idol Songwriter competition, "In This Moment" was selected by
Simon Fuller and sung by season seven finalist,
David Archuleta as part of the two-day American Idol finale.
Gillmor submitted "In this Moment" online hoping to surpass the hundreds of thousands of entries and secure a place in the top 50. "In This Moment" first made the top 50 and was in the running to be performed live on the season seven finale of American Idol.
The next elimination process was more nerve racking yet, as Simon Fuller was set to hand-pick the top 20 songs through a rigorous listening process. Once Gillmor's song was chosen by Fuller, he knew there was a chance for his song to be performed live on one of America's most iconic shows.
David Archuleta chose "In This Moment" as his song for the first night of the two evening finale. Archuleta's performance of "In This Moment" can be seen here: https://www.myspace.com/gillmormusic
"In this Moment" is now No 8 on iTunes.
A great year in the career of songwriter/performer Ryan Gillmor, another song was recently chosen as the Fox theme song for The Farrelly Brothers comedy, "Unhitched".
All of this newfound success with no label or publishing deal! Ryan Gillmor had moved to Los Angeles in search of a new beginning and that is exactly what he has found as a solo artist and as the lead vocalist for his band, Gillmor. Their first self-released EP, Counting the Days features tracks "Hey!", which was co-written by Sugarcult's front-man Tim Pagnotta and the now infamous, "In This Moment" and rock anthem, "Kids will be Kids" that features guest vocals from Plain White T's singer, Tom Higgenson.
This is just the beginning for Ryan Gillmor.
