New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Adria has released the official music video for "Pull Me Under," her first single. The noir-inspired visuals of the video complement the song's theme of water, and how it's fluidity can mirror human characteristics. As Adria describes the video to The 405, "I've always been inspired by water and the contrast of black and white, so naturally, I knew my first video had to include these elements."
Observing the consistency of Adria's conceptual approach, The 405 notes, "It's that fluidity that runs through the entirety of 'Pull Me Under' and its visual component, making it incredibly smooth but giving it a jagged edge with its rugged synth line. It's dark and it's sensual...She'll be an artist to keep an eye on for 2015."
The rhythmic, fluid elements of her music have their basis in her earliest artistic endeavors, as a dancer. She recalls, "I loved the classical music they'd play in ballet class so I tried to emulate it on piano. I'd record it then dance to it. Most of my ballads are quite 'flowy' because when I'm writing them I picture ballet and contemporary choreography in my mind." With this innate musical vision, becoming a self-taught vocalist and pianist never seemed in doubt to Adria - "it was just something that came naturally and something I had always done. It's like oxygen and water for me. I need it to survive."
Adria spent the last two years traveling between Australia, Sweden, and London working on her music. For her latest release she teamed up with producers Viktor Balter-Lundin (Lykke Li) and Matthew Wiggins, who previously helped artists such as Adele, Coldplay, and Lana Del Rey develop their unique sound in the studio.
