Jakarta Java Jazz Festival to be held on March 6-8 at the
Jakarta Convention Center. The mission of the music festival 'Bringing the World to Indonesia' was a promise to heal a suffering country in the wake of a tsunami disaster. Now in its fifth year, the Java Jazz Festival celebrates musicians of international fame and Indonesian artists to express all forms of music including Jazz, pop, rock, soul and more. Scheduled to also perform are American artists Jason Mraz,
Brian McKnight and UK wonder Swing Out Sister among many others from various countries.
"Music is a universal language which brings everyone together," says Pontarelli. "I have enjoyed performing overseas, but the Java Jazz Festival has an impressive energy and talent unlike any other place in the world, it's exhilarating." Pontarelli began his musical career at age four and very quickly became an award winning classical violinist. In the past few years, he has creatively orchestrated a diverse style of music that melds his rock, Jazz and classical influences. It's a sound that's yet to be branded, but it keeps audiences on their feet and the music industry intrigued for his ability to push the envelope. His collaborations include recording with Serj Tankian (System of a Down) and performing with rock legends such as Jethro Tull, and numerous other Grammy winners.
Pontarelli's musical artistry has received much recognition. Most recently he was awarded The International Songwriting Competition 'Peoples' Voice Award,' The Unisong International Songwriting Competition for 'Best Performance' for his engaging vocals and soulful violin and the title of Grand Champion of the Malibu Music Awards. In the media, he has appeared on television such as 'Live from the Grammy Red Carpet' on The Tonight Show, Entertainment Tonight, TV Guide Channel, and NBC and has been featured in numerous national publications such as Billboard, Music Connection and Strings Magazine.
