New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) On June 1, Black Sheep Entertainment will release Cory Lamb's new album 'Break the Cycle', an unflinching collection of arena-ready songs driven by Lamb's soaring vocals and powerful lyrics. The songs on 'Break the Cycle' shift seamlessly from orchestral to power-pop to rock balladry, and easily inspire comparisons to pop-rock heavyweights such as The Killers, The Faint and Jimmy Eat World. Ultimately, however, it's Lamb's distinct confidence and musical sensibility that shines.
2011 will be a banner year for the 25-year-old singer. Lamb has already garnered attention for his take-no-prisoners cut "Break The Cycle." AOL's PopEater called the song "irresistible," and another Cory Lamb fan, actor Stephen Baldwin, made his directorial debut for the music video. The song is an aggressive, synthesizer-based anthem. "It's about figuring out who you are and becoming an individual, instead of just listening to other people tell you how to live your life," says Lamb.
This message permeates the entire record and is reflective of Lamb evolving career. In 2006, Lamb moved to Los Angeles to be a production intern for the award-winning John Guess (Dixie Chicks, Rod Stewart, Reba McEntire). Once Guess heard Lamb's voice, he immediately recognized his talent and they began recording his debut. Now back in his hometown of Little Rock, AR, Lamb has honed in on his pop-rock sound that is equal parts dynamic, catchy, beautiful and aggressive.
Though 'Break the Cycle' is the beginning of a new chapter in Lamb's career, the essence of his music has remained the same. To really understand what drives Lamb, one need only take a close look at his lyrics. "If it doesn't have a positive message, I didn't want to sing it," says the devout Christian.
Cory is currently touring North America in support of 'Break the Cycle'.
