Get Lucky"- helped hone their synth-heavy sound with old school disco beats. Writing for Consequence Of Sound.net, Ben Kaye described their debut single "Mystery Boy" as "Bouncing, dark synths juxtaposed against lead singer Alexis' almost hushed coos give the track a sense of intrigue befitting its title" (March 27, 2015).
This past Tuesday, May 5, upon the EP's release, LEX introduced their music to an exclusive audience of music industry, press, family and friends with a listening and Q&A by Steve Baltin with
Peter Franco and the group at the SONOS Studiocreative space in Los Angeles. They discussed how they came together, their musical heroes and other topics related to synth music in pop culture notingDavid Bowie, Blade Runner and the book it was based on-Do
Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?-as influences for their art. Photos of the event, which also featured LEX custom stage couture designed by the Zamora Sisters and large projections of their stage show and inspirational style imagery to submerge the crowd in the 'LEXperience,' can be seen at "LEX Listening Party at Sonos Studio".
Next for LEX, the band will play a series of shows on the west coast. Upcoming dates include an appearance at Mous Tach in Tijauana, the Saturation Arts &
Music Festival in Riverside, CA, Urban Outfitters at Space15Twenty in Hollywood and the La Garconne Gala at SOMArts Cultural Center around the San Francisco Pride celebration and festival.
Everything is executed live during a LEX performance, with no backing tracks or computers onstage.
