LONDON, UK (Top40 Charts/ Gerald Masters Productions Official Website) - Dreamtime, comprises the best 80's music you still need to hear! A compilation of 11 songs, never before released. Dreamtime starts with the timeless Save Me...; a melodic, piano driven, sing-along pop anthem. Haunting and beautiful, Save Me... examines realization and forgiveness. Gerald's soaring vocal performance seemingly touches the soul. Like other great songwriters, one of Gerald's favorite themes of exploration is love. I Want to Be There, poignantly connects with our most natural and instinctive desire to share love; Gerald's vocal performance once again lifts us to a point of visceral understanding. Love is Real, is pop a pop ditty of a song, so happy and contagious you just may be willing to transport your singing out of the shower to anywhere you might find yourself. The title song, Dreamtime is also anthemic; an upbeat serenade exclusively for the one you love the most.
The songs in Dreamtime are largely the result of Gerald's years long collaborative, creative partnership with fellow producer, Terry Barham. Terry and Gerald joined their talents with vocalist Tracey Preece and guitarist Mick Butler. Together the foursome dubbed themselves Rescue Party. With Gerald's songwriting at the core, the foursome went on to create and record dozens of songs. The songs sound brilliant and vivid; most of the material was recorded in the creative and nurturing environment of the recording studio in Gerald's home, then mixed at Jacobs Studio in Surrey, England.
A classically trained musician from the Royal Academy of Music, Gerald Masters turned his attentions to pop/rock music, after he was unwittingly entered into the British Songwriter's Guild Competition by a friend. Gerald's song won the contest and he was rewarded with a music publishing deal and a recording contract. Gerald had a successful recording career in the early and mid-1980's, releasing multiple LP's with PYE Records, and later Handshake Records.
After his early success, Gerald and his wife Angela decided to live a more secluded and enjoyable life in rural England. There, in this more private setting, throughout the late 1980's, straight through to the year of his untimely death in 2007, Gerald wrote, performed and produced many unheralded, yet masterful recordings.
Recently, at the request of Gerald's widow Angela, creative partner and prote'ge' to Gerald Masters, Gareth Rhys Jones began cataloging this wealth of unreleased material. Gareth's enthusiasm for the material is contagious: "It's really exciting to be able to finally release this long lost music. For those who really love the sound of this era, it's going to be a real treat to hear brand new authentic 80's music and re-live the best memories of the time - and create some new memories too!"
Gareth tells us, Dreamtime is the only first part of the culmination of his efforts on Angela and Gerald's behalf: 'It is the first of 3 volumes from this period, so people can expect more as we compile and complete the eighties trilogy!'
All 11 songs of Dreamtime have something wonderful to offer: from the pounding drums of Speaking in Tongues to the lyrical humor of East Meets West. Dreamtime is a compilation filled with fun, intelligent and insightful lyrics, combined with musical and vocal performances worthy of a virtuoso musician like Gerald Masters and his Rescue Party cohorts... Dreamtime is a fantastical musical journey to the 1980's, and back to the future.
