VANCOUVER, Canada (H Records/ www.newschoolonline.com) - NewSchool www.newschoolonline.com decided to make 'The Sweetest Christmas' available for Free Downloading this Christmas. This song was the No 1 most added song in Canada in December 2003 and earned Top 10 status on multiple major radio stations. Already this year, 'The Sweetest Christmas' is receiving airplay on virtually all of the same Canadian Radio Stations plus many more.
"The Sweetest Christmas" is an up-tempo, festive song, sure to put a smile on your face with its warm vocals, infectious hooks, and lyrics that anybody who has ever been in love can relate to.

According to Adam Hurstfield (Adam H.), 'last year while I was calling radio stations in mid November, I was asked by a number of radio program directors if NewSchool had a Christmas song. I thought to myself … WOW … what a great opportunity for NewSchool. After talking with my partner, Michael Hektoen, we decided to make a Christmas recording. I co-wrote 'The Sweetest Christmas' with Jerry Wong, A.J. Woodworth (lead vocalist of NewSchool) and Jack Tikkanen. I then produced the track at our recording studio.
From there, Michael and I manufactured 150 Radio Promo CD's and expressed mailed them out to radio stations across the country. Then I started 'working the phones' talking with the program and music directors about adding our song to their play list. Without the help of these radio programmers taking a chance with NewSchool this would have never happened.
We also made the song available for paid downloading and gave the proceeds to MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving). Within two weeks, our original song 'The Sweetest Christmas' became the No 1 most added in December! Without Program and Music Directors giving us a chance we would be nowhere.'

Thanks to the continued support of Radio Programmers three additional songs entitled 'Back In the Day' (using a re-creation of 'True' by Spandau Ballet), 'Misunderstood' and 'Alright' have each charted across the Canada and helped launch our self titled album distributed by Maximum-Universal Music Group Canada. We also had a top charting video on MuchMusic in heavy rotation.
According to Michael Hektoen, 'Adam H. and I decided to expand NewSchool awareness in the United States, Europe, Australia and other countries by making 'The Sweetest Christmas' available for free. Our hope is that when new visitors come to the NewSchool site for the free download, that they will take the time to learn about New School, listen to our music and learn more about H https://www.newschoolonline.com/index.cfm?pg=hrecords Records. We are in direct contact with a number of radio stations and have already received airplay commitments from 12 major US cities with more coming in everyday. We also are adding secondary radio markets as well as key internet radio outlets worldwide. Over 25,000 E-Christmas Cards have been sent out across the world inviting the industry and media to download our song. Our goal for 2004 and 2005 is to be signed to a major record label.
Our marketing plan includes releasing a new single from our second album in February and to have the full album released in June in connection with a national tour."

Our good fortune continues with our collaboration with The BananaToons www.bananatoons.com and SA Trackworks www.satrackworks.com. These most talented writers and Producers from Canada collectively have sold over 30 Million records and have written and or Produced artists' including; Jessica Simpson, 98 Degrees, The Corrs, Stacie Orrico, O Town, Laura Pausini ('Surrender') and Kelly Rowland's No 1 hit single, "Stole".

The federal government is currently reviewing its commitment to The Foundation to Assist Canadian Talent on Records (FACTOR), which hands out money to Canadian musicians and companies. Its budget of $14 million annually is to expire on March 31, 2005.
The Canadian Music Industry is in serious jeopardy. This expiration of funds will affect absolutely every facet of the music industry in Canada. The trickle down effect that includes recording studios and engineers, video producers and directors, agents and managers, independent labels, publicists and publishers, concert promoters and club venues from coast to coast, cd manufacturers and distributors, live production companies and crews, vehicle rental companies, hotel and accommodation providers, equipment manufacturers and retail music stores.
The very 'heart and soul' of Canadian Music is at stake. We urge everyone who loves Music and the Arts to go to How Can I Help at: https://www.savecanadianmusic.com/SCM040.php.
