NEW YORK (Spirit/ www.chriscoxonline.com) - Grammy-nominated Producer/Remixer/DJ
Chris Cox will make his NYC residency debut this week at the club "
Spirit" (in the space formerly known as Twilo) on Thursday, December 2nd. Cox is also a new resident DJ on XM Satellite Radio's BPM Channel 81 with his show "12 Inches Of Cox," which debuted on Saturday, November 13th. XM is the #1 satellite radio service in the world. Cox has also recently collaborated with the best in the world of dance music, including the BBC
Radio 1's Pete Tong.
A megamix he produced for pop star Britney Spears is entitled the "Chris Cox Megamix" and it appears on her just-released Britney Spears Greatest Hits; My Prerogative (Deluxe CD) on Jive Records. A video was also cut to his production of the song. Earlier this year, he was commissioned by Virgin Records to produce a megamix of 15 of Janet Jackson's biggest hits titled "Janet Megamix 04" (Chris Cox Remix). As a member of the hitmaking remix/production team Thunderpuss, the megamix they made for Madonna also included a video cut to the duo's remix.
Cox received his first Grammy nomination on December 4th, 2003 for his co-production work on Cher's single "Love One Another." The song appears on Cher's Living Proof album.
This past year he has been producing, remixing and writing new music in the studio, including more original collaborations with Pete Tong and Pete Lorimer. Cox's first track with Pete Tong was entitled "More Intensity" and was one of the big records in Ibiza this summer, as well as Seb Fontaine's "VIP Tune Of The Week" on BBC Radio 1! He and Tong also completed a chill-out track entitled "Ku Da Ta" that is on Paul Oakenfold's Perfecto Chills 2 compilation.
The party at Spirit Nightclub in New York City will be on the first Thursday of each month and will be called "Back To Basics." According to Cox, the musical focus will be on "energetic, fun, uplifting party music. You know, the kind that made you fall in love with house music and devote your life and/or career to it? Mostly new, some classic and all good!" Spirit is located at 530 West 27th St. in NYC. Doors open at 10 p.m. with an open bar from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. on December 2nd. Admission is $12.
