Chicago, IL (Top40 Charts/ ICAP Ocean Tomo) - ICAP Ocean Tomo, the intellectual property brokerage division of ICAP plc (IAP.L) and the world's premier patent auction firm, announced today the addition of the Robert M. Knight Rock and Roll Photographic Archive to its upcoming Fall Auction on November 11th in Napa, California. An invite only preview of the collection will take place in Los Angeles in early October.

The addition of the Knight Archive marks a new and significant expansion of the parameters of ICAP Ocean Tomo's past auctions, which have focused primarily on intellectual property in the form of patents from various technology sectors. Kevin Fiur, Senior Vice President of ICAP Ocean Tomo commented, "We are extremely excited to include the Knight Archive in our November auction in Napa, as it is truly one of the most expansive and important individual collections of its type in the world. It is an artistic and cultural treasure, and we believe that it could have significant monetization potential in the hands of the right buyer. The Archive's combination of truly rare artistic intellectual property and genuine financial value and upside make it the perfect asset for our company's move into the market for brokerage of media and entertainment related IP."

Mr. Knight is one of the rare photographers whose work spans virtually the entire Rock and Roll era, from the 1960's to the present. Among many treasures of this collection are early images of legendary guitarists such as Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Keith Richards, and countless others. The Archive also includes images of virtually all of the Blues legends such as BB King, Hubert Sumlin, and Buddy Guy, as well as other iconic players such as Elvis Presley sideman James Burton and David "Honeyboy" Edwards, the last living guitarist alleged to have played with Blues legend Robert Johnson. Mr. Knight holds the distinction of having been the first to photograph Led Zeppelin in the U.S., and furthermore, was the only official photographer at Alpine Valley, Wisconsin twenty years ago, capturing Texas Blues impresario Stevie Ray Vaughan's final show.

Across the decades, guitar-driven bands such as the Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Van Halen, Def Leppard, and more have graced his lens, and continue to do so today, with young guns such as Slash, John Mayer, Joe Bonamassa, Derek Trucks, Jonny Lang, Kenny Wayne Sheppard, and dozens more being fortunate to have been commemorated in his photographs. During a career that now stretches into its sixth decade, Mr. Knight has shot thousands of live musical events, from tiny clubs to major concerts, including the GRAMMYs and other major awards events. Mr. Knight has been at the front of the stage at some of the most important performances in Rock and Roll history, and has well over 100,000 images in his photographic archive. The life and work of Mr. Knight has recently been celebrated in a documentary film entitled, "Rock Prophecies", which began airing this month on PBS televisions across the U.S. and is also available on DVD. His work can also be seen in his recently published photographic art book entitled, "Rock Gods: Forty Years of Rock Photography".
For more information on the Robert M. Knight Rock and Roll Photographic Archive, how you can participate in the upcoming Fall Auction on November 11th, or for an invitation to a special advance preview of the Knight Archive in Los Angeles early October, please contact Kevin Fiur at (512)547-8311 or via email at [email protected].
