New York, NY (Top40 Charts) New England-based singer/songwriter
Jesse Terry will release his new album Stargazer on
September 15th. His fourth full-length album and follow-up to 2013's Stay Here With Me, Stargazer is Terry's most ambitious record to date, a lushly orchestrated collection of pertinent new songs centered around finding hope in a seemingly hopeless time, picking resilience over recrimination, and optimism over oblivion. Today, he released the video for the album's title track "Stargazer," debuted by Relix who called it a "sunny perspective for these dark and turbulent times."
"For me, the song 'Stargazer' has always been about overcoming fears, picking your own universe and fighting for dreams," Terry told Relix. "I think having a dream is quite ordinary, but fighting for it and clinging to it, even during the bleakest of times, can make that same thing extraordinary. We were so lucky to film the majority of this video in Bamburgh Castle in Northumberland, literally an ancient fortress on the coast of Northeast England. Northumberland is such a magical place and home to the darkest skies in all of England. I can't imagine a better filming location for 'Stargazer.' Now when I'm on stage performing, I picture myself singing this song in the King's Hall at Bamburgh Castle. To be honest, the whole experience still feels a bit surreal to me. It was one of those days that I'll remember for the rest of my life."
Drawing inspiration from a diverse pool of influences - from vintage Jeff Lynne-produced pop to Roy Orbison's "In Dreams" to The Man Who-era
Travis - Stargazer is notable for the diversity of its sonic palette. Terry is as adept at cross-pollinating spacey rockabilly with power pop ("Dance in Our Old Shoes") as he is at writing dreamy, Beatlesesque ballads about a loved one's toxic personality ("Kaleidoscope"); as comfortable at the helm of a charging, Springsteen-down-South ode to the new Nashville ("Runaway Town") as he is singing a heartbreakingly tender lullaby to a European capital ("Dear Amsterdam").
Stargazer was produced with multi-instrumentalist collaborator Josh Kaler in Nashville's sumptuous EastSide Manor Studios with renowned composer
Danny Mitchell adding string arrangements.
"Jesse Terry is a gentle soul with a formidable songwriting talent. His new album Stargazer is a big step forward for him artistically." - John Platt, WFUV
