New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Montreal singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Leif Vollebekk has just shared his music video for "
Elegy" via Brooklyn Vegan. The track is the lead single from Leif's upcoming record 'Twin Solitude,' out February 24 on Secret City Records. NPR
Music premiered "
Elegy" last month via Songs We Love, praising it as "devastatingly beautiful" and adding "the song grabs you by the heart and pulls you into its hypnotic whorl of melancholia." Since its release, "
Elegy" has been streamed over 400,000 times across digital platforms. The track debuted in the Top 15 of the UK Viral 50 chart on Spotify.
Directed by Kaveh Nabatian, the "
Elegy" video was filmed in a Florida beach town that Leif frequented as a child. During filming, he danced in the dunes through sunset, followed by Nabatian with a camera strapped to him and a speaker attached so they could hear the song. The pair danced up and down the dunes all day, until it got dark and they were kicked off the beach.
Watch the video via Brooklyn Vegan, who deem the song "lovely, soulful and spare" and the visual "equally striking": https://www.brooklynvegan.com/leif-vollebekk-preps-twin-solitude-watch-elegy-video-touring/
Leif was also announced as this week's World Cafe Next artist by the renowned WXPN show. During the segment, host
David Dye compares 'Twin Solitude' to the work of
Jeff Buckley and plays two songs from the new record. Listen in full via NPR: https://www.npr.org/sections/world-cafe/2016/12/05/504156855/world-cafe-next-leif-vollebekk

America in the late spring for a headlining tour, and dates will be announced shortly.

Daniel Lanois, Beth Orton, Sinéad O'Connor, Patrick Watson, Coeur de Pirate,
William Fitzsimmons and Sam Amidon. His 2010 debut 'Inland' was described as "beautiful, memorable and moving" by NPR and "timeless and monumental" by the Independent UK.
