NEW YORK (Top 40 Charts/ Mark Shine Official Website) - Singing, playing guitar, and writing most of his own material, Mark Shine brings that new sound he calls "roCStA"-a natural fusion of reggae and rock-to his upcoming album, Rocsta Society. The son of a Jamaican preacher, Mark was born in London, grew up in Jamaica, lived in Mexico, and has performed and recorded around the world.
At age 15 he performed 'One Love, One Aim,' chosen to represent Jamaica at the highly competitive Caribbean Broadcasting Union Song Festival. As a featured frontman on the Bob Marley Festival Tour he extensively toured the U.S. in the late '90s, and-fluent in Spanish-he's played South America, Mexico City, and Europe.

Currently living in New York, he recently performed at a Mets baseball game at Shea Stadium, the Queens JAMS festival, and the 2006 Bob Marley Birthday Tribute at B.B. King's in Times Square. 'Life is a mission, and my mission is to make a difference through music,' says Mark.'I feel I can create a link for us as people to relate to each other, and embrace ourselves as human beings on many levels-to understand our inter-related culture, both physically and spiritual, and to inspire the people with music.'

With experience recording tracks with heavyweights like Sly Dunbar and Dean Fraser, Mark Shine has recruited an all-star cast of international musicians for his new CD: guitarists J.J. Sansaverino (Maxi Priest), Ricardo Padron (Miguelito), and Abdul Zuhri (Omar Hakim); drummers Gabe Moses (Cannabis Cup Band), Paul Kastick (Maxi Priest), and Ivan Katz (Easy Star All-Stars/Maya Azucena); saxophonist and composer Zé Luis Oliveira (Babel Gilberto) and Trumpeter Conis Vanterpool (Patra); keyboardists Jared Jacobs (J.T. Taylor), Ricky Tepperberg (Dennis Brown), and Frederic Las Fargeas (Soul Solution); and bassists Thomas Gooding (Gloria Gaynor) and Steve 'Blacka' Richards (Judah Eskender).
Mark Shine's music vibrates between people of different backgrounds, languages, and genres, with the most deeply rooted influence being his homeland, Jamaica.
A natural performer, his guitar and the stage are home, which he shares with his band, Rocsta Society. Pre-release: 'Die Fa My Music,' 'I'm a Butterfly,' from the EP/Sampler: Rocsta Society (View the 'I'm a Butterfly' video.
