Mark Thomas: The Man Behind The Madness
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ GarageDog Records) It is no secret to any Circle7 fan that the subject matter of their music is dark, sometimes even twisted. Recently, like a flashback to metal's early beginnings, the band has been targeted by a small group of Christian parents who sent messages to the band's Facebook. The messages referred to the band's song Disease in which the lyrics are haunting and talk about the affects of drug abuse.

Circle7's lyrics are penned by none other than their front man/mad man Mark Thomas, whose topics include things such as; rough sex gone wrong, depression, drug abuse, and violent psychosis. Live performances are no different, as Thomas talks to and commands a crowd to sing along to a song entitled Alcoholic, which many have stated, encourages binge drinking.

Incidentally Thomas' reply to the Christian parents, who contacted the band in reference to their song Disease, inadvertently angered them as he seemed to have compared the Bible to the fictional children's story "Green Eggs and Ham." Thomas assured us that this was not his intent.

Close friends of Thomas claim that what people see is what he is truly like. "He's crazy. He will do almost anything to entertain and to make people think" says childhood friend Dan Avery. Fellow band mate Dustin Inks describes the environment when Thomas is writing; "He closes himself down. You can always tell when the gears are moving and it's best to leave him alone. He'll ignore you anyway. When he's done though, you can be sure you'll be reading something from his soul whether it be his sadness or his anger. He is very conscious of what he does though. He's insane but he's intelligent."

Thomas says "I don't like taking credit for things our entire band should be credited for. None of our songs would be what they are without Circle7 as a whole. Words are words, music is music. It's the combination of both coming together that make us what we are. I merely write what's in my heart and what's on my mind. The fact that fans relate to it and like it is just a bonus and justifies what I do."

Thomas is known for his compassion but is more known for being a "say anything" kind of person who will leave you thinking "Did he really just say that?"

When you hear a Circle7 song, there is no mistake that you are hearing Thomas' soul, his emotions, and his twisted madness. Much like an evil genius crafts the perfect monster Mark Thomas' monster is his music and then he takes his insanity and his monster to the stage.

There is absolutely no doubt when you see Mark Thomas, Chuck Dietz, Dustin Inks, Skot Michael and Sean McDermott (Circle7) take a stage, you're going to be in for a wild ride.
