New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Neighbourhood PR) Maya Jane Coles, the multi-award winning 26 year old British-Japanese producer/DJ, starts another new chapter in her remarkable career as she releases the deluxe version of her debut album "Comfort" on 24th March 2014 on her own I/AM/ME label.
"Comfort" was originally released to a rapturous reception in July 2013 on I/AM/ME after Maya turned down the major label cheque books to retain total creative freedom. This acclaimed record was entirely produced, engineered and mixed by Maya who also wrote or co-wrote every track. Alongside Maya's own vocals the albu features guest vocal performances from the likes of the legendary
Tricky and electronic goddess Miss Kittin through to newer talents such as
Nadine Shah and Alpines.
The album also includes the vocal talents of
Thomas Knights on "When I'm in Love" who also directed the somewhat controversial videos to the album's singles "
Burning Bright" ft Kim Ann Foxman and "
Everything" ft Karin Park. The latter video featuring taxidermy by artist Harriet Horton.
This new deluxe version of "Comfort" is available on both vinyl and digital formats and includes five additional tracks. Alongside formerly released fan favourite tracks "Over" and "Protect Them" the album also includes previously unreleased matieral in "Lost In The City", "Stand Still" and "Keeper". All five tracks are produced, engineered, mixed and played by Maya including vocals where present.
To coincide with the deluxe album release a brand new video for the album's title track "Comfort" will be debuted shortly. The "Comfort" video is directed by Jonas
Lorde who assisted
Director Thomas Knights on both previous videos. It explores metamorphosis through various forms of being. We'd say more but we think it's best if you just see it for yourself.
To look at Maya's success by social statistics, she has over 1.5 million SoundCloud followers with ½ million of these joining in the last 2 months alone! Add that to more than 275,000 Facebook fans and another 70,000 on Twitter and it's clear to see why Maya topped Billboard's Unchartered chart for several weeks spending an astonishing 62 weeks in the chart and counting.
Media have also been very supportive of "Comfort" with worldwide TV and radio playlists and particularly amazing press coverage. Maya has now featured on 17 magazine covers - amongst them her second for Mixmag (UK) and firsts for The Guardian Guide (UK), Trax (France), Trap (UK) and DJ Mag (Germany).
Peer support for the album has been in equal abundance with the likes of Skream, Jamie XX, Dubfire, Dusky, Rudimental, Damian Lazarus, Anja Schneider, Diplo, TEED, Pete Tong, Groove Armada, Tale of Us, Justin Martin, Mr G, and Deetron to name just a few supporting Maya's releases in their sets. Breech, Citizen, Joyce Muniz, Blond:ish, Franskild, Last Magpie and Dense & Pika have remixed the album's singles.
In addition to her own projects Maya found time to remix others in recent months adding The XX, Ella Fitzgerald, Tiga vs Audion,
Rudimental ft. Emile Sande, Bonobo, Big Dope P, and Alex Jones to a list which already included
Massive Attack, Gorillaz,
Little Dragon, Lianne La Havas, The Orb, Phil Kieran,
Maceo Plex and Tricky.
Maya is of course already renowned as a DJ. Rolling Stone recently included Maya as one of their top 25 most influential DJs on the planet and she made the Resident Advisor Top 20 again for a third successive year! It's not hard to see why. Maya's DJing highlights of the last year included a record breaking Boiler Room, a second much lauded Essential Mix for
Radio 1, a guest mix for XLR8R's hallowed 300th podcast, and live streamed mixes on Resident Advisor live from her residency at Richie Hawtin's Enter at Space.
Maya played in 40 countries in 2013 taking in festivals such as Fuji Rocks (Japan), Glastonbury (UK), Coachella (USA), Sonar (Spain), Ultra (USA), Lowlands (Holland), T in the Park (UK), Pukkelpop (Belgium), Bestival (UK) and Creamfields (UK) amongst countless others around the world. Previous to this Maya had played at Les Transmusicales (France), Melt (Germany), Benicassim (Spain), Electric Zoo (USA),
Detroit Movement (USA) and Exit (Croatia) amongst others.
Maya is set to add to her list of festival achievements when she plays Australia's
Future Festival this March. She will also return to the decks at Tokyo's super club Womb before heading for three gigs at Miami's Winter
Music Conference. In addition to this Maya has also already been announced to play Awakenings (Holland), Life Festival (Dublin), We Are FSTVL (UK) and Parklife (UK). Maya is also confirmed to headline Amnesia's opening party in Ibiza. Expect many more live announcements over the coming weeks.
With the release of the deluxe version of "Comfort", an impressive live calendar being unveiled, rumblings of a new mix compilation and an album under her Nocturnal
Sunshine alias currently under construction the Maya Jane Coles story continues into 2014 with a very large spring in its step.
