Wilmington, MA (Top40 Charts/ Windsor Place Of Wilmington Assisted Living) - The first live musical performance, 'Songs from the Silver Screen', is today, Thursday, October 7, 2010 at 2:00 PM, and will feature Ben Sears and Brad Connor - popular local cabaret performers and recording artists. The two musicians are avid theater buffs and talented performers; and have been hailed as 'Boston's favorite song duo' by the Boston Globe. Combining their musical talent and extensive historical knowledge of musical theater, the duo has performed in a wide range of distinguished venues throughout the nation. Sears and Conner are also the Producing Directors of the performance series, American Classics, and are the founding members of the Boston Association of Cabaret Artists.

'Songs from the Silver Screen' will feature musical performances of movie song classics, interspersed with anecdotes about famous cinematic composers and original movie stars. Song performances will include such classics as 'Let's Call the Whole Thing Off', 'Thanks for the Memories', 'As Time Goes By' and 'Cheek to Cheek'. A refreshment reception will follow the performance.

The second event, 'A Tribute to Rodgers & Hammerstein', will be presented by music historian and pianist, Jack Craig, on Friday, October 15, 2010, at 2:00 PM. The tribute will focus on both the story and the music of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein.

The famously talented duo broadly influenced the modern musical theater genre, with Rodgers composing the music and Hammerstein adding the lyrics. Five of their shows, Oklahoma!, Carousel, South Pacific, The King and I, and The Sound of Music, were outstanding successes. In all, they garnered thirty-four Tony Awards, fifteen Academy Awards, the Pulitzer Prize, and two Grammy Awards.

Craig will provide an in-depth look at their lives and creative visions, while also playing their hits on the piano.
