Nominate Your Music Company For A "Veteran Employer Salute"
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The MilitaryConnection.com Veteran Employer Salute is awarded to Veteran-friendly employers who go above and beyond in their efforts to provide premium employment opportunities to their Veteran employees. Users who frequent MilitaryConnection.com can easily ascertain which employers are the most Veteran friendly, and remember them when job hunting.

"In honor of the December launch of the newly redesigned MilitaryConnection.com website, not just one, but two additional employers will be chosen to receive the Veteran Employer Salute," said CEO Debbie Gregory. She continued, "This will end 2014 on a high note for two great companies." The new website will still have the resources and information you have come to expect from MilitaryConnection.com, but will be easier to navigate, and will be responsive for use on smartphones and tablets. If your employer specialized programs for hiring and retaining Veteran employees, deserving of this award, email your nomination to: [email protected]

The Department of Defense estimates that there will be approximately 250,000 service members separating from the military each year, for the next five years. These Veterans bring an unparalleled background to their civilian careers, including experience in leadership, following directions in the most extreme of circumstances, and successfully completing missions, regardless of the challenges.

Successful employers know that incorporating Veterans into their work force is a growing trend among thriving businesses. But a major difficulty that leads to the high Veteran unemployment rate is that Veterans aren't always aware which businesses want them on their team. A "Veteran Employer Salute" affords Veterans the opportunity to know that your company is Veteran-friendly and looking to hire more Vets!

"We, as a nation, need to do a better job of hiring Veterans," said Gregory. "The first step in that process is employers informing Veterans that they are specifically looking to hire them."

To be considered for the "Veteran Employer Salute" award from MilitaryConnection.com, nominations must include how your company is going above and beyond to hire and acknowledge Veteran employees. Programs such as hiring initiatives, retention programs, service recognition, internships and leadership/advancement programs for Veterans could qualify a company for nomination. Nominees will be evaluated and chosen by a panel of key decision makers, including Military Connection's CEO, and a member of the Military Connection staff, an OIF/OEF Veteran.

Previous recipients of the award include Gwinnett County Government and C.R. England. Gwinnett received their recognition for their dedication to hiring Veterans. There are currently 790 Veterans, active duty and reservist service members and military spouses employed by Gwinnett County. C.R. England received their "Salute" for making Veterans a part of their company's culture. You can see C.R. England's "Honored Veteran" trucks, driven by their Veteran drivers, on highways throughout the country. The company also offers Veterans scholarships to their truck driving school, and opportunities to become leaders within C.R. England. The company also allows Veterans self-employment as private contractors, who own their own trucks.
