POI DOG PONDERING CONFIRM GEOGRAPHER AS SUPPORT FOR RARE SAN FRANCISCO DATE

SAN FRANCISCO, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Tricycle Records) - NoVo Arts, Inc and Tricycle Records are proud to announce that Geographer will join Poi Dog Pondering for a very special show at Slims on Friday, December 4th, 2009 at 9 p.m. Known as "The little big band with the strong back and supple / stubborn heart," Poi Dog Pondering has been following it's intuition for over 25 years now.
From bohemian street buskers to impossible to market major label sacrificial lambs... PDP has ripened into staunchly independent musical voyagers. They have let every sound that excited them flow through their music and flood it with ever changing colors: rock and soul; orchestral, acoustic and electronic textures; Americana, disco and international music. All threaded along the way with lyrics that embrace the beauty and pain that life can bring. Bandleader Frank Orrall is also a touring member of Thievery Corp and was featured in Richard Linklaters classic Slacker.

After the unexpected deaths of his sister and father, Geographer founder Michael Deni left his hometown in New Jersey for San Francisco.
He spent the next several months with his guitar and a synthesizer he found on the street, turning the tragedy that drove him from home into songs rich with emotion and lush melodies.
After the additions of cellist Nathan Blaz (ex-St. Vincent) and drummer Brian Ostreicher, Geographer spent the next year playing clubs around the Bay Area, crafting their songs into the driving, heart-pounding epics that make up Innocent Ghosts. Deni's angelic vocals soar above thumping dance tunes with highs and lows that are simple and beautiful in their delivery. After a packed record release party at San Franciscos landmark Cafe du Nord that included members of Bright Eyes, and the privilege of being voted one of three Undiscovered Bands You Need To Hear Now by SPIN magazine, Geographer is poised on the brink of becoming one of the most exciting newcomers in Indie music.

Opened in 1988 by legendary R&B artist Boz Scaggs, Slim's is a live music nightclub dedicated to providing the public with excellent service, a congenial atmosphere, good food & drinks and the finest American Roots Music-Blues, R&B, Cajun/Zydeco, Jazz, Alternative and more. Pollstar Magazine has voted Slim's the best nightclub in America five out of the last eleven years and for the past two years Slim's was awarded Best Bar & Club by the readers of the San Francisco Chronicle. The club is located in the South of Market district of San Francisco, a hub of nightlife in the city.
