Panama "Magic" Remixed By Midnight Magic - Filter Exclusive
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Girlie Action Media & Marketing) Panama is a Sydney-based five piece founded by, Jarrah McCleary, a classically trained pianist from the age of six who grew up in the sticky heat of the Northern Territory. They're coming out with their self-released debut single "Magic" (…nothing less than Magic!) worldwide on March 2nd. The single includes two remixes from Midnight Magic and Gavin Russom (Crystal Ark) which sound absolutely brilliant. Eric Broucek (DFA) mixed the tracks.

"Australia's really been whipping out the big guns lately with some artists on the rise. Sydney-based Panama is sure to be one of them." - Filter

URB says the following about the track "Bouncey and light the remix genuinely soars as the vocals, enveloped in a deep groove and digital xylophones, are moved from their originally condensed, Erik Broucek-produced (Holy Ghost!, !!!, Eleanor Friedberg) sway to a dreamy, decidedly more light-hearted elevation. The whole track, uplifting, and reminding of an impending spring renewal, is a potent antidote for anyone's case of the winter blues, if youhappen to be experiencing those, along with that mind-crushing case of Harshattackia."

Panama's first single, 'Magic' is as much soaked in an '80s pop sensibility as it is a modern summer anthem for our impending sunshine. The forthcoming Panama album was produced and mixed in Los Angeles by Eric Broucek of DFA fame (Holy Ghost, Eleanor Friedberger, !!!) over two months. During their recordings, Eric's friend Jim Orso (VHS or BETA) joined them in the studio on drumming duties, adding a layer to the sound that is as relevant and 'now' as it is brimful of '80s influence. Between splashes of yacht rock and nods to Peter Gabriel (thanks to the iconic '80s Yamaha DX7 synth), definitive genres were pushed overboard and all that was left was a big, golden sea filled with music that made sense.

Jarrah's previous project, The Dirty Secrets saw the band working between Australia and London with iconic producer and engineer, Nick Terry (Klaxons, Libertines). Panama is the new incarnation for McCleary, who is joined by his old band mate, Cam Edwards (The Dirty Secrets) and a collective of hand-selected local artists to create Australia's finest five-piece.

A handful of successful releases later, the The Dirty Secrets outfit were invited to play at festivals such as Big Day Out, Southbound Festival as well as supporting Muse on their Australian tour. The band went on to tour Japan, America (CMJ) and Europe. Heavily steeped in sunburn, the scent of coconut, beer drinking on the promenade and bikini-clad girls on roller-skates - the band was faced with no other option than to create a new project - and so, Panama was born.
