A fast track method for learning to play the piano has just entered the music world. In her new teaching series, "Anyone Can Play Piano," author and lifelong music teacher Mary Wright speeds the development of pianists of all ages.

In her four-book method, Wright separates piano playing and music reading to allow students to focus on one concept at a time. The traditional graph is replaced with alphabet letters while hand skills are developed first. Students happily practice entertaining songs without realizing they are actually finger exercises in disguise. Delightful imagery and silly verses enhance memory webbing to ensure overall progress. At the conclusion of the series, students play all elements of music reading and rhythm with confidence and precision, and are ready to tackle the traditional Grand Staff.

Lesson journals accompany each of the four books, presenting practice pointers and related musical information, including spaces for students to record practice time and teachers to write instructions. A companion CD series plays each song both in formal piano format and in rollicking keyboard craziness, complete with vocals. The ear training the CDs provide is important for both rhythm exactness and playing expression, plus enjoyment.

Mary Wright is a retired classroom and music teacher, certified in Speech Therapy, Special Education and Music. A 1971 graduate of the University of Minnesota - Duluth, she has previously written two books on family history, a three book accordion instruction series, and a biography, "Bobbi, Father of the Finnish White-Tail Deer," accompanied by the fantasy, "Bobbi Saves Christmas."

Wright was raised in Bruce, Wisc., was a Minnesotan for thirty years, and has been a Texan since 1990 in the Dallas area. She has five children and 20 grandchildren.
