Rock & Roll, Melodies, Harmonies and Hooks.

Start Static are ready to go having recorded their latest album, 'Resolve' with Bruce Rintoul (Twin Atlantic, Fatherson, Vukovi, Prides). The Glasgow four-piece have combined their trade mark big sound and massive choruses with exceptional production to produce a remarkable product.

The first release from the album, 'Need the Rush' debuted on Kerrang! Radio (March 2018), and the follow up 'Take Your Place in Line' has received rave reviews. The album is due for release in 2018, the singles are available on Spotify, YouTube, Deezer and all Digital Music Stores now!

In February 2015 the band released their debut album 'Arguments' which charted on iTunes alternative charts and was well received by national and international press alike. This early success resulted in a national tour, headline show at King Tut's Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow as well as TV performances, BBC Radio1 Airplay, inclusion in Kerrang! ABOUT THE SONG
Applaud-o-meter is about the trials and tribulations that most musicians will relate to, and that have become part of being in a band. It is written from the perspective of a crooked promoter who is taking advantage of the bright eyed musicians trying to make their way.

Bands, especially when starting out, tend to tolerate a lot because they are trying to leave a good impression on the people that they perceive as holding the keys to them 'making it'. Pay-to-play gigs, or shows that cost the band lots of money, for payment in "Exposure".

The title, 'Applaud-o-meter' describes Battle-Of-The-Bands competitions where progress is defined by how many people you bring to the show - rather than the talent on display. Tickets to these events are expensive, and bands often make losses trying to entice the largest numbers into the shows - to maximise their chances. Now would be a good time to point out that we love what we do, and we have a lot of fun doing it. It's also important to note that there are a lot of people and venues out there who work their fingers and bank balances to the bone to keep music alive - it's just that you have to kiss a lot of frogs!

The song came together really quickly from a baseline Chris started playing. John's opening lyrics were spur-of-the-moment and have made it on to the studio version, and Tap stole the main riff from Chris and it sat really nicely on the guitar. From the whole album, that may have been the quickest song to write - and was one of the last songs we wrote for 'Resolve'.

We recorded with Bruce Rintoul at 45-A-Side and love how it sounds. It's the most prominent Synth part we've used, and is something I've really grown to love. The video came together out of necessity - with Chris being out of the country unexpectedly. Instead of cancelling all the filming we turned an idea on its head and filmed everything as a VR experience from Chris' perspective. We ran around passing a camera between the three of us, and got funny looks as we pretended to talk to it. We got to take a ride on the amusements in Glasgow City Centre…while on one of the rides we noticed that the whole thing was balancing on a plank of wood. That really helps the adrenaline levels. Mike has been responsible for the production on all of our videos, and has pulled it off again. Rude.
