LOS ANGELES, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Luck Media & Marketing) - Priding themselves on making 'alt rock for kids that won't drive the adults crazy,' Atlanta based musical trio The Baby Grands has found a unique way of teaching children about the joy and goodness of sharing while celebrating the recent release of their self-titled debut on the new indie label Backspace Records (www.backspacerecords.com): giving themselves away!
Well, almost. Actually, they're giving away free downloads of three songs from The Baby Grands to anyone who emails a request to free@backspacerecords.com before February 1, 2009.
'Sugar Makes Me Loco' is a playful song about how Mom and Dad won't let the child have sugar, but Grandma will-but at the price of the child's hyperactivity! 'Diggin' A Hole To China' is about running to the backyard and getting down and dirty for however long it takes! The inspirational ballad 'Dream Big' celebrates that wonderful time in a kid's life where anything is possible; the song encourages them to think outside the box, know about love and not about hate.
Multi-instrumentalist Ben Rowell, a member of The Baby Grands and co-owner of the label, has some great suggestions about what parents should do once they download the tracks: put it on the kids' iPods and/or burn it on a disc so the whole family can listen at home or in the car!
The Baby Grands-which include lead vocalist Donny Todd, producer, multi-instrumentalist Ben Rowell and lyricist Marc Castelo - are quickly revolutionizing the genre with songs that feature great musicianship and clever songwriting that doesn't insult the intelligence of its intended audience. Their tag line says it all: 'Kids music that's not just for kids.'
A portion of the label's profits from The Baby Grands will go towards organ donor organizations. All of Backspace's recordings are dedicated in memory of Mack Lindsey, their friend, business partner and heart transplant recipient.
