Los Angeles, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Portia Records) - The Eye The Ear and The Arm have officially signed with Portia Records who will release the Los Angeles based band's debut full-length titled "Paths" on January 29, 2008 through all digital retailers worldwide followed by a limited-edition physical release in a hand-packaged, cloth-wrapped digipak on February 19, 2008. This edition will include a download card with exclusive bonus tracks.
"Paths," produced by Alex Newport (At The Drive In, Mars Volta) and Mike Russell (Amestory), finds the band churning out eleven songs that immediately evoke classic groups such as Yes and King Crimson as well as more contemporary rock bands such as Arctic Monkeys and Bloc Party. "People's first reaction on hearing us is to start listing bands from the seventies and eighties, whether it be the vocals or guitars," says guitarist Darin Green. "I think it's great that we can keep that alive while still remaining totally relevant to what's going on today."
The Eye The Ear and The Arm, whose final incarnation came to be in 2004, attribute much of their content, both musically and lyrically to their surrounding environment. Growing up out of a Los Angeles suburb as well as Darin's time in college studying finance and Derek's time dropping out of it to work full time, contributed to a wealth of experience which surfaces in much of Paths. "Working in a mall for three years in a wealthy suburb has changed my perception of probably almost everything," Derek confesses. "Kind of disenchanted me ... I think that comes across in our songs."
These songs have now been laid to tape making up their debut, Paths. The Eye The Ear and The Arm wrapped up recording and mixing in Los Angeles in mid 2007, with Newport and Russell and have finally delivered a debut record worthy of praise.
