New York, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - Tina Dico kicked off her North American headlining tour Monday night with a sold out show at Joe's Pub in New York City. Playing to a standing room only crowd, Tina delivered a gorgeous mix of material that included songs from her newly released 'Count to Ten' (Defend Music) as well as tracks from her impressive discography.
Taking the stage armed with just her guitar, Tina gracefully opened the show with "No Time to Sleep" a song off of her EP 'A Detour.' Having enraptured the audience with her stunning vocals and ethereal delivery, Dico did not hesitate as she delved into tracks from 'Count to Ten' including her rollicking ode to the touring musician, "On the Run," a captivating and stirring version of "Count to Ten," and the elegant and heartfelt meditation on life and love, "Sacre Coeur." She introduced the lullaby "Night Cab" gushing: "I'm falling in love with New York City and I'm not sure I want to.
Usually it's just in and out, but this time I've been able to stay a while..."
The evening capped off when the audience demanded Dico return to the stage for an encore of the emotional "In the Red" and finished her set with the audience clamoring for more. Judging by last night, the feeling is mutual - New York City loves Tina Dico back.
The love doesn't just stop there for Tina and 'Count to Ten.' People Magazine gave it 3.5 out of 4 stars and raves "there are countless reasons to appreciate this Danish-born, British-based singer-songwriter." The LA Times cheers that Tina "sings deeply personal songs, but her delivery almost dares the listener to make comment... Her voice, spanning several octaves, finds a comfort zone in the low registers and strikes an alluring balancing act between the fragile and the tough personae." USA Today selected the title track for special praise, declaring that the "Danish singer delivers a remarkable claustrophobic folk blues, with swooping strings at the end an unexpected delight." Entertainment Weekly named her track "Sacre Coeur" a 'Choice Cut' and Billboard applauds the "voice that demands global attention."
