April 4 Cajmere, Lee Curtiss, Moon Boots, Maxxi Soundsystem, Russ Yallop

Curtis Alan Jones has been a leading force in Chicago house for a long time now. Ever since his first track "Coffee Pot (It's Time for the Percolator)" was released in 1992 as Cajmere on Clubhouse Records, he has been shaping and changing the scene as he pleases. The last decade saw him performing under the moniker Green Velvet releasing a number of smash singles. Verboten is happy to have him reprise his Cajmere name and guide the dance floor with his classic house sounds.

Moon Boots has been traveling the world finding solace in the soothing sounds of underground disco and R&B boogie records, taking Verboten on a galactic groove ride this month.

Don't miss "master of the sensual synth" Lee Curtiss, Russ Yallop bringing his infectious warm sound, and Brighton beat maker Maxxi Soundsystem.

April 5 Safer At Night: Kim Ann Foxman, Curses, Walker & Royce, DKDS, Star Eyes, Total Fitness

Trouble & Bass and their new sister label Safer At Night launch their monthly residency at Verboten on April 5. Safer At Night features house/techno-oriented sounds, with special guest Kim Ann Foxman, label head Curses, fellow Trouble & bass troublemakers Gotham City Creepers, groove-heavy deep house producers Walker & Royce, production and DJ duo of the NYC underground DKDS, and rising talent Total Fitness.

April 11 Zeitgeist: Felix da Housecat, Metro Area [DJ set], Kate Simko, Clarian

An artist dedicated to making the people dance, Felix da Housecat is one of those rare, charisma-oozing characters, whose musical and mental eccentricity come from a genuine place. He has been releasing music since 1993 and collaborating all over the board including a stint with the (then) P. Diddy. In the past year he has gone on a global tour, put out a huge Katy B remix, a live BBC essential mix, released his own headphones and has a fresh load of new material. Don't miss his rampant electro/disco concoctions when he comes to Verboten.

Morgan Geist and Darshan Jesrani burst onto the scene in 1999 as Metro Area with their self-titled debut 12'' featuring the cult smash "Atmosphirque." Metro Area was born out of the duo's dichotomous love of both the old moods of R&B, disco and boogie and the more cutting-edge sound of innovative house and techno. Come join them at Verboten as they blend classic sounds with the future in a DJ set.

Also performing are Kate Simko, who brings her melodic, Chicago-flavoured take on house and techno, and Clarian, with his haunting gothic mystical romance music.

Early in the night, Verboten also features an art show with pop artist M. Dreeland titled "Art is Verboten."

April 12 Somewhere in BKN: Carl Craig, Davide Squillace, Martin Buttrich, Kenny Larkin, Ataxia

Carl Craig begins a quarterly 'Somewhere In BKN' residency at Verboten. Inspired by Mad Mike Bank's legendary 'Somewhere in Detroit' record store, Carl Craig launched the 'Somewhere In...' parties with a special one off event on the Balearic island of Formentera last summer, and will be taking them to specially chosen locations around the planet. The first date of the four-part NYC residency will also be a Movement pre-party for the excellent Detroit festival. "For a party to be great, what matters is the purity of good music, the sound system that delivers it to your ears and the journey it takes you on. In the words of Funkadelic 'Free your mind and your ass will follow,' I want you to lose the time in your mind and do what your body wants you to - dance. Forget everything else and join my friends and I on a musical ride," says Carl Craig.

After discovering electronic music on a trip to London, the Naples-raised Davide Squillace has not stopped. He's always working, either on the road or in the studio and has had productions grace the catalogs of the some of the finest labels in dance including Ovum, Sci+Tec, Morris Audio, CMYK and more. Davide has been a resident DJ at clubs all over the world, and now comes to work the dancefloor at Verboten.

Martin Buttrich is famously as fluent behind a mixing console as in front of a virtual drum kit. That technical prowess, combined with a fascination for music of every shape, has resulted in outstanding releases on influential labels such as Planet E, Four:Twenty, Cocoon, Poker Flat, Nervous and Desolat. Having lived in Europe and New York City, Martin's world view of music has really shaped his sound and he has done remixes all over for people like Madonna, Muse, Fatboy Slim, Kelis, and Tom Jones.

Verboten also see the Pure Detroit style of Kenny Larkin, Ataxia's powerful brand of house and techno, as well as Chuck Flash + Keith Kemp.

April 18 Lee Burridge, Mike Koury, Bedouin

Growing up in England's scene of underground and outdoor raves, Lee Burridge learned the facets of club music when acid house was on the rise. Lee has spent his time in many different scenes around the world, including Hong Kong and Thailand where he helped develop the club scene into what it is today, and then back to the UK where he solidified his presence in the electronic scene.

Mike Koury and Bedouin also join the bill.

April 19 20vum: Josh Wink, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs [DJ set], M A N I K

In 1994, Josh Wink formed his own imprint 'Ovum Recordings' and released "Liquid Summer" - a track which helped propel him onto the international circuit. Ovum still continues to grow by both introducing new talents and releasing one-offs from some of the world's best known producers. "Ovum is about integrity to good music! We feel that we don't have to follow the music that is trendy or fad-like at the moment." he says. Taking trends, making trends and breaking trends, Josh Wink's music has always experimented and influenced. The sound of Josh Wink today remains one of a man unafraid to walk the border between stylistic boundaries. Join in as he celebrates Ovum's 20 year anniversary.

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs makes music at the central point between pop, electro, house and melodic, tuff rave - and his debut album 'Trouble' is just more proof that TEED's Orlando Higginbottom is one of the most fascinating, brilliant and musically kaleidoscopic artists in the world right now.

Also performing is M A N I K, a New York City born and bred producer/songwriter/DJ whose tastes reach beyond the dance floor, with future releases on Black Butter, Anjunadeep, Ovum, Culprit and more.

Early in the night is Wasabassco at Verboten, the monthly burlesque performance. Verboten is the perfect site to unleash the newest and most extravagant of Wasabassco's monthly, with an unmatched freedom of space that allows Wasabassco to pull out all the stops, featuring the most extravagant acts, biggest props, and unique performances - striptease, aerial, fire and more - all presented in the round. The non-stop action and circus-like energy will leave guests in awe and craving more of this ever-changing monthly event. This month is "Danger!", an evening of powerful women and dashing men throwing caution to the wind. Wasabassco's Verboten shows are hosted by the fabulous Golden Glamazon herself, Sydni Deveraux. This month's star include Nasty Canasta, Evelyn Vinyl, Hazel Honeysuckle, Stache Novak, Perle Noire, Albert Cadabra, Poison Ivory, Donny Vomit and stage kitten Amanda Whip.

April 25 Push The Night: Guy J, Stimming, Brad Miller, Coyu, Edu Imbernon, Nick Muir, Guy Mantzur

One of Verboten's resident parties, Push The Night -- The New York based event series by Brad Miller -- explores the deeper and stronger sides of underground dance music through its signature style of rhythm, energy, and melody.

Israeli producer Guy J has established himself as one of the most sophisticated and emotive producers in electronic music of the last decade, with a body of work and a sphere of influence that belies relatively short time in the spotlight. Whether it be his sensual, hypnotic take on house music, his deeply textured techno or his wondrous ambient material, his work is always touched with a magic and emotion that few rival. Also on the bill is the house music innovator Stimming.

Next up are celebrated Catalan DJ and producer Coyu; Edu Imbernon and his expert blend of electronica, house and indie; Nick Muir, who is best known for his work as a producer of electronic dance music both on his own and as one half of the Bedrock production team with DJ John Digweed; and Tel Aviv-based Guy Mantzur, who draws influences from tech house, techno, and proper progressive house to create his own distinctive musical template.

April 26 Zeitgeist: Audion [DJ set], Tiga, Tim Sweeney

Verboten presents the first night of Matthew Dear's 'Audion Presents' residency, with the concept of "performing with artists who inspire me by playing forward, body moving electronic music," he states. The inaugural edition features Tiga and Tim Sweeney in the Control Room, as well as Will Calcutt, Jakub Alexander, and Max Pask in the Cabaret Bar.

Depending on whom you ask, Verboten resident Matthew Dear is a DJ, a dance-music producer, an experimental pop artist, a bandleader. Or Audion. He co-founded both Ghostly International and its dancefloor offshoot, Spectral Sound. He's had remixes commissioned by The XX, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Spoon, Hot Chip, The Postal Service, and Chemical Brothers; he's made mixes for the Fabric mix series and Get Physical's Body Language. He straddles multiple musical worlds and belongs to noneā€”and he's just hitting his stride.

Montreal born DJ/Producer and Turbo Recordings boss Tiga is responsible for throwing a series of small parties which helped re-invigorate the Montreal dance scene in the 90s. The following decade saw numerous releases and remixes for fellow techno spinners and release of a searing rendition of his former Mother Mio bandmate Corey Hart's solo smash "Sunglasses at Night," which challenged dancers and seduced critics alike. Meanwhile, Turbo Recordings allows the Montreal house sound and scene to flourish by supporting their local artists, but at the same level they are delivering pleasing sounds from across the globe.
