Yamaha CFX Concert Grand Piano Most Popular Among Contestants Of International Chopin Competition
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The Yamaha CFX concert grand piano proved to be the instrument of choice for the majority of contestants at the 17th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition, recently completed in Warsaw, Poland.

Of the 151 performances held throughout the competition, 70 were on the CFX, making it the most popular piano on stage out of four available brands (Yamaha, Kawai, Steinway and Fazioli). The Yamaha was selected for the first three solo rounds by seven of the 10 finalists, and was the piano played for three out of the six performances that earned Main Prizes, including Charles Richard-Hamelin (2nd prize), Tony Yang (5th prize) and Dmitry Shishkin (6th prize). The CFX was the instrument heard in the performances for two out of the three Special Prizes awarded, including the Best Performance of Mazurkas (Kate Liu) and Best Performance of a Sonata (Charles Richard-Hamelin). Although competition 1st prize winner Seong-Jin Cho ultimately performed on a Steinway in the competition, he later selected a CFX for his prize recital at the Salle Gaveau, in Paris on November 7th. This year's remarkable results are an impressive follow-up to the CFX winning the Gold Prize during its international competition debut at the 2010 Chopin Competition.

The CFX piano represents the ultimate achievement of concert piano design, embodying the concept of beauty and power. The rich palette of tonal colors and musical voices the piano can produce characterizes its beauty. The power comes from the CFX's unprecedented tonal projection. A culmination of nearly 20 years of research and development by the world's most accomplished piano designers, technicians and craftsmen, this exquisite instrument also evolved from direct subjective feedback contributed from many internationally respected performing artists. In little more than five years, the CFX piano has quickly become the instrument of choice of many pianists across all genres of music, and has been acquired by leading educational institutions and concert venues.
