New York, NY (Top40 Charts) One of New York LGBTQ rap's most controversial and innovative pioneers, K2 Cocky (formerly known as Cocky da Homo MC) returns in 2018 with "Spice Cadet," a full-length album full of trap bangers as well as some very shocking lyrics. With a diehard and loyal international fanbase, K2 Cocky has displayed much versatility to his listeners over the years, with styles ranging from boom-bap to horrorcore and even industrial rock. Now he is on his new-wave trap kick, with tracks inspired by Future, Kodak Black, Post Malone and Lil Pump.
"Spice Cadet" conceptually centers around the underlying theme of drug use and "trap culture", as represented most clearly in the intro, "Lift Off", an audio clip cut from a news segment on synthetic drugs resulting in teens required medical attention.
However, the album offers slower and more personal tracks like " Loose", " Rollercoaster" and "Lagging Computer Blues", with the same level of lyrical talent that K2 carries throughout the entire album. Amassing over 15,000 streams in the span of 2 months and receiving much acclamation from Hip Hop's blogosphere, "Spice Cadet" proves to be a solid project that both the straight and LGBTQ communities can enjoy.
