Lakes Releases Debut EP "Just To Feel The Feeling" On December 1, 2018
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Brooklyn indie rockers LAKES will self-release their anticipated debut EP Just to Feel the Feeling December 1, 2018. The creation of actor/musician couple-Libby Winters (guitar, vocals) and John Gallagher Jr. (drums), LAKES is a love letter to their 90's era grunge-rock heroes which makes perfect sense considering the two of them met while performing on Broadway in Green Day's rock musical, American Idiot.

When Tre Cool of Green Day asked her "What are your songs about? Boys?" Libby replied, "They're about thinking things are one way, but then discovering they are another way. Also, boys." On Just to Feel the Feeling, Winters touches on all the juciest girl-rock emotional touchstones including unrequited love, self-loathing and romantic obsession. On top of (or underneath) the musings on feminine longing, LAKES layers the influence of their 90's grunge-rock heroes: the pop sensibility of Weezer and The Breeders inform their hooky melodies, the knowing irony and self-reflection of Liz Phair saturates the lyrics and the fuzzy distorted guitars a la Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins fill out their sound.

LAKES will celebrate the release of their debut EP at the iconic New York City rock and roll venue, Mercury Lounge where so many of their 90's and 00's heroes have graced the stage (The Strokes played there! Yeah Yeah Yeahs played there!). Libby will also jump onstage to reunite with mid-2000's art-rock outfit The Fabulous Entourage (with Kyle Jarrow of Sky Pony) for a few songs. Expect dancing, shredding guitars and pink fuzzy feelings.

Upcoming LAKES Shows:
12/1 - New York, NY- Mercury Lounge - album release party
1/11 - New York, NY - Coney Island Baby
