MJG Inks Independent Label Deal With 404 Music

share
ATLANTA, GA. (Top40 Charts/ 404 Music) - 404 Music, Inc. proudly announces it has signed Memphis-based rapper MJG, of MJG Muzik from the duo 8Ball & MJG, and will release his new studio album. Scheduled for release at the end of April, "This Might Be the Day" will be his second solo effort since his 1999 album, "No More Glory."

Highly regarded in hip-hop as forerunners of the Southern rap movement, 8Ball & MJG's first full-length album, "Comin' Out Hard," was a monumental release that helped to popularize the "Dirty South" sound.
Their 1999 release, "In Our Lifetime, Vol. 1," reached number one on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop album chart for that year. MJG's first solo effort, "No More Glory," peaked at number four on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop album chart.

"This Might Be the Day" will continue to establish MJG as a formidable solo artist. With singles like "Shades," the album will not disappoint MJG fans. However, on a gem like "Ride with Me," MJG shows growth as an artist and songwriter willing to take creative risks that will bring a needed change to the game.

"As a fan from the beginning, I always wished that I could have signed the group [8Ball & MJG] to our label [Ichiban Records]. We would have been a perfect match. Now it gives me great personal pleasure to finally work with a pioneer like MJG and be part of his movement. This collaboration would not have come into fruition without Dwayne [duprano] Martin of Push Management," says Nina K. Easton, President and C.E.O. of 404 Music.

Easton is a highly respected industry executive and was co-founder of Ichiban Records, which according to Entrepreneur Magazine, was "one of the fastest growing companies." With Platinum and Gold success, Ichiban's roster included Vanilla Ice, MC Breed, Curtis Mayfield, 95 South, and many others.

Established in 1998 and based out of Atlanta, 404 Music had success with releases from Popa Wu from the Wu-Tang Clan (produced by Rza) and Young Jeezy's first album. Due to the shift in the industry, 404 Music suspended operations, and Easton focused on running MDI Distribution. However, the influx of new technology in the music business created perfect conditions for the re-emergence of 404 Music, and Easton resurrected the label in October 2007.

MDI Distribution, also based out of Atlanta, will be handling national and international distribution for MJG's current single, "Shades," as well as the upcoming album, "This Might Be the Day." MDI Distribution not only distributes music to retailers, but also provides music placement in movies, television, commercials, video games, as well as all online channels.
