HOUSTON, TX. (Sage & Woodway Publishing/ www.houstontsunamirelief.org) - Houston Tsunami Relief will host its kick-off benefit event at Numbers Nightclub on Westheimer with platinum recording artist, SCARFACE!! Also appearing: the dynamic hip-hop-reggae band Dubtex, local legend Gloria Edwards, large band rockers Guy Schwartz & The New Jack Hippies, and others t.b.a.

'I'm in' said platinum recording artist Scarface on a call from New York. 'I wanna be on the ground over there, but until then I want to do something to help..."

DJs Levon Louis, Steve Swift, BMC, and Wes Wallace will provide the best in spun selections between live acts and on into the night. This will be a "free", all-ages event with a suggested donation of $5 or more graciously collected at the door to benefit Houston Tsunami Relief. Doors open at 4pm.

Houston Tsunami Relief is a coalition of artists, professionals, and local businesses working together to bring short and long term financial aid to victims of the 2004 tsunami crisis through a series of community events and happenings.

'It began as a New Years Day gathering of close friends, neighbors, and family affected by the images of the 2004 tsunami that has devastated parts of Asia and East Africa' says Director Levon Louis.

He decided to use the healing process of gathering with music and combine it with a benefit concert featuring popular Houston acts as a great way to help everyone.

All the acts are donating their talents. Donations, proceeds of ticket sales for the concerts and sales of merchandise will be going to Habitat for Humanity International,
Karuna Trust, Save The Children, Sarvodaya, and Oxfam.

A fund has been set up to receive donations for Houston Tsunami Relief at Bank of America, and on-line through PayPal. For more information and updates, check out the website at www.houstontsunamierelief.org

'The need for people to do something to help is overpowering' said Louis. 'Everyone wants to be involved.'
