ENCINO, CA. (Top40 Charts/ BrokenToiz Records) - Most bands are usually born out of someone's desire to play music their way and connect with a fan base. Every musician was influenced or inspired by someone - whether it was a grandmother who encouraged them to play or a legendary performer who touched their soul with a note, lyric or style. When a new band is introduced, the first question is usually, "What kind of music do they play?" In the case of BrokenToiz, a Los Angeles-based group, the answer would be, "D - all of the above."

This versatile, ten-member group describes themselves as "neo-soul," and in an effort to paint a larger picture, also includes funk and R&B. However, it doesn't end there. These artists can also deliver solid hip-hop, jazz and rock. "BrokenToiz is the band I have been waiting to be a part of my whole life," says founder and drummer, Steve Stephens, who has played with some heavyweights in the industry, including Janet Jackson, George Duke and Cheryl Lynn. "We started this project to bridge the gap between the old and the new, the funk and the rock, because we played them all and enjoyed them all."

The band will be demonstrating yet another side of their talents when they present the "Stone Soul Picnic" - a funky celebration of the 60's and 70's music style, at the Viper Room on July 5th. Joining Stephens will be Kim Starms (Guitar, vocals), Donn Torres (Bass guitar, vocals), Nyghe Siddiq (Rap, vocals), Yuko Tamura (Keyboards, vocals), Annette Moore (Vocals), David Goldstein (Keyboards), Ed Roth (Keyboards), Richard Taylor (Bass, vocals) and Alex Budman (Saxophone).

BrokenToiz's self-titled CD was released on June 1st and is available on the iTunes, Napster and Rhapsody websites.

The Viper Room is located at 8852 Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood. The "Stone Soul Picnic" begins at 10:30PM. Tickets can be purchased for $12.00 at the door or online at www.webookbands.com.
