Smoke Season Gives Their Modern Take On Talking Heads' Psycho Killer
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Indie-electronic duo, Smoke Season and APLUSFILMZ have created a Halloween-inspired music video for their cover of "Psycho Killer," the 1977 song by Talking Heads. Produced by Dave Burris of Mateo Sound, "Psycho Killer" gets a fierce and cinematic makeover. The track is available for streaming on Spotify and Soundcloud and for viewing on YouTube.

Smoke Season continues to prove themselves as passionate artists who bring a cinematic twist to the table that capture the eyes and ears of music fans. Smoke Season's cover of "Psycho Killer" opens with an electric beat that is quickly followed by Gabrielle Wortman's distinct vocals delivered with a perfect balance of passion and minimalistic control. Written by Talking Heads, the original song contains dark undertones that Smoke Season elaborates on by adding a euphoric blend of melodies and harmony with a dash of sex appeal. One might ask, Qu'est-ce que c'est? It's an ingenious approach to a cover, eerily timely and an infectious sound.

In the music video, Gabrielle Wortman and Jason Rosen of Smoke Season are joined by spine-tinglingly creepy performances from Megan Duffy (who was scalped by Elijah Wood in the Cannes Film Festival lauded film, Maniac), Max Landis (notorious screenwriter of Chronicle, American Ultra, Bright, and new BBC show, Dirk Gently), Charley Feldman (Changeling), Tybee Diskin (Fallout: Nuka Break), Shane Carpenter (The League of S.T.E.A.M.), Liza Tsark and Chelsea Elizabeth. Directed and edited by Scott Fleishman, the minimalistic video centers on the idea that psychopathy comes in all shapes and sizes and even your seemingly normal neighbor can be a crazed killer. Jason and Gabrielle flit in and out of the video like ringleaders in their horde of madhouse breakouts.

Since forming in 2013, Smoke Season has been in a constant state of artistic fervor, independently releasing three EPs (Signals, 2013; Hot Coals Cold Souls, 2014; Ouroboros, 2016), a bevy of cinematic music videos, and a tour schedule that features frequent national runs and regular appearances on the stages of prominent festivals, such as SXSW and CMJ. Their unique musical style captured the attention of major press outlets like Buzzfeed, Huffington Post, Clash Magazine, LA Weekly, and The New York Times as well as earned them over five million streams on Spotify.

"Psycho Killer" is released just in time for fans to add the cover song to their fall and Halloween playlists on both Spotify and Soundcloud. Be sure to watch the video on YouTube. For more information on the band or where you can see them next, visit www.SmokeSeason.com.
