Universal Music Catalogue Releases 40 Track CD 'The Nation's Favourite Motown Songs'
LONDON, UK (Top40 Charts) On 7 July 2014, Universal Music will release 'The Nation's Favourite Motown Songs' featuring 40 of the greatest Motown hits of all time. The album will be released to coincide with a new ITV show, which will tell the story behind some of Motown's iconic and best-loved songs and counts down to the final reveal of what has been voted as the all time favourite.

ITV's The Nation's Favourite Motown Song will feature interviews with huge stars and footage of iconic artists such as Tito Jackson (Jackson 5), Mary Wilson (The Supremes), Duke Fakir (Four Tops), Otis Williams (Temptations) as well as Martha Reeves and many more who will all personally help to tell the story behind some of the 40 classic songs that feature on the double disc CD.

Motown was born in the late 1950's in Detroit - the famous car-manufacturing city known as 'Motor Town', which also had a thriving live music scene. The nickname was eventually shortened to 'Motown' and soon become the name of one of the most iconic record labels of all time. The album will feature some of the best Motown artists including The Supremes, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, The Jackson 5, Lionel Richie and Smokey Robinson, with the entirety of disc one dedicated to the 20 tracks featured in the programme including the ultimate number one.

50 years on, Motown is still a phenomenon but it wasn't just about the music, it was the complete package of each artist's personal presentation; their clothing, hair, dance moves, which will all be explored in the ITV show. The 40-track album celebrates this wonderful blend of words, music and performance that remains so close to our hearts.

After the success of last year's ITV show 'The Nation's Favourite Elvis Song', the corresponding album went on to become one of the best selling albums of 2013. 'Always On My Mind' was voted the best Elvis song with 'Suspicious Minds' coming in at second place.
The Nation's Favourite Motown Song will be voted for by a representative panel of ITV viewers across the country.
The Album 'The Nation's Favourite Motown Songs' is released on 7 July 2014.
