New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ PSI NORTH-SOUTH PARTNERS) Growing up in Chicago, music was a very important part of Keke Palmer's life. Her mother was a background session singer, often taking young Palmer and her older sister L'Oreal to the studio with her to record.
"I knew at an early age that I wanted to be a singer like my mom" says the Film Actress and Recording Artist
There were others that inspired her as well, Brandy, Aaliyah, and a trio out of Atlanta called TLC. Palmer was only six years old when the group released their third smash hit album, Fan Mail.
"I would sing No Scrubs over and over again, to the point my parents would have to tell me to stop, but I never did, I had my little hairbrush as my mic and nobody could tell me I wasn't the fourth member of TLC", laughs Keke remembering who her music idols were growing up.
Palmer will be trading in the hairbrush for a real mic. She has been chosen to play the role of Chilli in the upcoming VH-1 TLC biopic to be filmed in Atlanta, GA next month. Coming off of her critically acclaimed performance in the Lifetime Network Dramatic TV Special, Abducted: The Carlina White Story, in which the actress was nominated for Outstanding Actress in a Television Movie, Mini-Series or Dramatic Special at the recent NAACP IMAGE AWARDS, Palmer says she is quite aware of how TLC fans will react to a bad movie about their lives.
"I am a true fan. I love these ladies and I always want to be proud of my work in any role that I do."
If Palmer's past film work is any indication along with the success of her music mixtapes and music videos, we could be in for a big treat!
