New York, NY (Top40 Charts) On June 17, the ranch hand turned troubadour Luke Bell will release a self-titled album via Bill Hill Records / Thirty Tigers. Following a performance at the Stagecoach
Music Fesitval, which Randy Lewis of the Los Angeles Times called "raw and energetic, rooted in country tradition with a strong dose of the literate facet of the folk tradition," Bell announces that he will officially showcase at AmericanaFest 2016.
Additionally, he will perform at the Bonnaroo
Music and Arts Festival on June 9.
This week, Bell was named one of Rolling Stone's "10 New Country Artists You Need To Know." Andrew Leahy calls Bell "A rough-around-the-edges return to country traditionalism, full of honky-tonk shuffles, steel solos and the big, booming baritone of a former ranch hand who's actually lived the cowboy lifestyle."
Luke Bell is a collection of 10 songs produced by Andrija Tokic (Alabama Shakes,
Benjamin Booker, Hurray For The Riff Raff) at The Bomb Shelter studio in East Nashville, TN.
NPR
Music premiered the video for his single "
Sometimes" and said "Luke Bell has a classic, brassy country voice that conjures images of both dimples and tears in a beer. His songs exist somewhere in the same arena, because just as easy as it to be charmed by Bell's clever turns of phrase, he'll hit you upside the head."
The Fader recently premiered "
Sometimes" and said, "...his music sounds like you could have heard it in the same honky tonk Hank Williams used to play (with the exception of a little profanity)."
The track is currently the Song of the Week at The Bluegrass Situation, who said "Swirling
Buddy Holly quirk and
Elvis Presley quivers into his classic country constructions, there's a freshness to his interpretation of the genre..."
