Lynyrd Skynyrd To Headline Southern Rock Cruise 2019
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Fans are clamoring to catch Lynyrd Skynyrd on their Last of the Street Survivors Farewell Tour - making stops at amphitheaters, arenas and stadiums. But there's only one place to see the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame members up close and personal in an intimate setting, when they make a special appearance on The Southern Rock Cruise on January 8, 2019. Setting sail from Tampa, Florida on January 6, 2019, the second annual Southern Rock Cruise will visit Cozumel and Progreso, Mexico before returning January 12.

"We love playing for thousands of screaming fans at some of the most fantastic venues in the country," said Lynyrd Skynyrd's Johnny Van Zant. "But we couldn't pass up the opportunity to play for 2,000 people again at this special event for The Southern Rock Cruise. It is always a blast to play more intimate shows and get up close and personal with our fans is an added bonus."

Lynyrd Skynyrd headlined last year's inaugural Southern Rock Cruise, which sold out in weeks. Skynyrd will be joined by Dickey Betts and his band, Blackberry Smoke, Marshall Tucker Band, Molly Hatchet, The Kentucky Headhunters, Black Stone Cherry, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Jimmy Hall of Wet Willie, The Steel Woods, Bishop Gunn, The Curt Towne Band, Brother Hawk, Preacher Stone, The Cowboy Poets, Johnny Neel, Jive Mother Mary, Heather Luttrell and The Possumden and Hal Bruce, with more artists to be added. An additional day of cruising has been added to provide extra time for guests to see and enjoy all their favorite artists.

"We are so excited to have Lynyrd Skynyrd back for a special appearance on The Southern Rock Cruise 2019," said Mike Jason, Senior Vice President, StarVista LIVE. "Of course, we are also thrilled to have Dickey Betts as well as some of the next generation of southern rock stars with us including Blackberry Smoke. This lineup defines Southern Rock, and for music fans to see this many acts in such an intimate setting is going to be a blast."

The Southern Rock Cruise 2019 is limited to 2,000 patrons and will bring all the best performances, great interactions with the superstars of Southern Rock plus the very best dining and service all included in the cost of a stateroom. Original members Ronnie Van Zant, Bob Burns, Allen Collins, Gary Rossington, and Larry Junstrom formed the band in 1964, originally known as My Backyard, the band changed to its famous name in the early 1970s, and became popular in the Jacksonville, FL area, where the original members were from. They signed with Sounds of the South Records in 1972, and released their self-titled disc the following year. The album that featured "Free Bird," arguably the most-recognized single in the Southern Rock genre, has sold more than 2 million units since its release. Later down the road the band recorded iconic tracks "Sweet Home Alabama" and "What's Your Name."

The band's story took a tragic turn in October 1977 when a plane crash took the lives of Van Zant, Steve Gaines, backup singer Cassie Gaines, and several of their road crew. The band took a decade-long hiatus before reuniting for a tour and live album, Southern by the Grace of God. Since then, the band has toured and recorded extensively, with their most recent release being Last Of A Dyin' Breed. The band's current line-up includes original member Rossington, Johnny Van Zant, Rickey Medlocke, Mark "Sparky" Matejka, Michael Cartellone, Keith Christopher, Peter Keys, Dale Krantz Rossington and Carol Chase. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006.
