Miami Beach Centennial: City Recommends Visitors Take Advantage Of It's 100th Birthday All Year Long
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) With a star-studded celebrity line-up for its 100th birthday concert as well as 100 couples getting married on the beach, 100 new citizens being naturalized and a climate change conference with Al Roker, earlier this year Miami Beach and its residents really celebrated the city's Centennial in the style befitting Miami Beach's extraordinary presence in the world. But just because the official events are over doesn't mean there aren't plenty of activities, places to visit and things to see in this Centennial year which doesn't end until December. Visitors and residents can pay homage to the city's 100th birthday by planning a Centennial themed trip to Miami Beach. With hotel prices dipping a bit for summer and lots of Centennial deals, it's the perfect time to plan, book and stay.

"Miami Beach's 100th birthday party for residents and visitors was unlike any other celebration we've had before," says Peggy Benua, Chair, the Miami Beach Visitor and Convention Authority (MBVCA). "But there is still so much to do and see in this city during this special centennial year. Miami Beach is old and young, historic and modern with museums and beaches, budget eateries and five star restaurants, Art Deco architecture and state of the art new buildings."

What's Old is New Again
Visitors to Miami Beach this 100th year can join in the fun by staying at the Fontainebleau hotel for example, drinking in all the glory of this fabled property where Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, Lucille Ball, Jackie Gleason and others partied and stayed over five decades ago and where today, through the hotel's Bleau Live music concerts, guests can book a room and enjoy modern-day entertainers like Katy Perry, Pitbull, Maroon 5, Lady Gaga and others. They can also take advantage of the Fontainbleau's special Centennial offer, "Sweet Suite Bleau" where guests can reserve any suite and receive a $100 dining credit per night. The offer is good until December 31, 2015. They can also reserve a room at the historic Deauville Beach Resort, the second place the Beatles played during their first visit to the U.S. The Deauville's Centennial package includes a two night stay in an ocean front room with balcony, two free special cocktails named after the Beatles and the 100th Centennial and a "Rat Pack" breakfast for two. The offer is also good until December 31st. Other Centennial offerings around the city can be found here: https://bit.ly/1CSmbgc

"Miami Beach is full of wonderful dichotomies, incredible places to explore and so much to discover," notes Grisette Roque-Marcos, Executive Director, the MBVCA. "Our Centennial is not only a great reason to visit but it really affords visitors the opportunity to take in Miami Beach's past and present, old and new, all of which is entertaining and fun."

Other To Do's when visiting during Miami Beach's 100th year include taking a tour of Miami Beach's Art Deco architecture and districts via official walking tours sponsored by the Miami Design Preservation League; grabbing a Cuban coffee at Puerto Sagua, a Cuban diner that's a stalwart presence on Miami Beach or enjoying a big breakfast all day long at the casual dining spot, Big Pink. Guests can watch a live concert or a movie on the modern, larger-than-life WALLSCAPE™ at the New World Symphony or revel in an opera at the historic Colony theatre. They can also take a stroll down the open air Lincoln Road mall, an integral part of Miami Beach's storied past or plan an afternoon of shopping in the newest hot spot, lower Collins Avenue with its array of A-list retailers including Tommy Hilfiger, Steve Madden, Dash, Barney's, and Zara. Enjoy an afternoon cocktail at the Art Deco Raleigh Hotel (or any of the Art Deco gems that line Ocean Drive) or grab some lunch at newer spots like the roof of the Dream Hotel or the pools at the SLS or The Gale hotels.

There's so much to see and do here for the history buff or the modern-day explorer and Miami Beach's Centennial year is the perfect time to dive in. For more information on Miami Beach please download our award winning App - Miami Beach Information - on the Apple or Android platforms.
