Christian Scott Atunde Adjuah Announces New Album 'Diaspora'
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Two-time Edison award winning, Grammy nominated trumpeter, composer, producer, designer of innovative instruments and interactive media Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah is set to release three albums to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the very first Jazz recordings of 1917. Collectively titled The Centennial Trilogy, NPR Music just announced the series' second album Diaspora with the premiere of its title track. Nate Chinen said of "Diaspora" "listen to what he does here with a Harmon mute and some multi-tracked harmony, evoking both the pop-jazz conventions of a trumpeter like Herb Alpert and the simmering composure of an R&B singer like Maxwell."

Ruler Rebel, the first release in The Centennial Trilogy, was released on March 31st and earned praise from The New York Times, Rolling Stone, NPR's Fresh Air, The FADER, Wall Street Journal, Stereogum, Bandcamp Daily, and more.

The Centennial Trilogy is at its core a sobering re-evaluation of the social political realities of the world through sound. It speaks to a litany of issues that continue to plague our collective experiences: Slavery in America via the prison industrial complex, food insecurity, xenophobia, immigration, climate change, sexual orientation, gender equality, fascism and the return of the demagogue.

"We're trying to highlight the sameness between seemingly disparate cultures as a means of showing a broader reverence for the people who create sound, and the experiences that lead them to those places," Christian says of the album. "No more divisions in sound, it's time to get move on from that. Diaspora stretches everything from the rhythms of New Orleans and the Caribbean to the soundscapes and textures of Nordic pop, alt rock, Japanese traditional music, Afrobeat and beyond."

NPR raves "Christian Scott ushers in new era of jazz." He has been heralded by JazzTimes magazine as "Jazz's young style God" and "the Architect of a new commercially viable fusion." In 2016 Adjuah won JAZZFM's Innovator/Innovation of the year honor along with the Downbeat Critics Poll Rising Star Composer to go along with his many wins for Rising Star Trumpet. Christian is the progenitor of Stretch Music a genre blind musical form that stretches the rhythmic, melodic and harmonic conventions of Jazz to encompass many musical forms, languages, thought processes and cultures.

The release will be accompanied by Adjuah's award-winning Stretch Music App - The first Interactive media player of its kind, refitted for The Centennial Trilogy.
