LONDON, UK (Top40 Charts/ Mercury Music Group) Nigerian Afro-Beat sensation D'Banj is poised to release his first UK single 'Oliver Twist' on 14th May having signed to Kanye West's G.O.O.D label following a fierce bidding war. Already a superstar in his native Nigeria and across Africa, D'Banj is spearheading the Afro-Beat invasion with the release of the insanely infectious 'Oliver Twist'.

The 29 yr old was born in Nigeria and looked set to follow in his father's military footsteps when, at the age of 11, he headed to Nigerian Military School. However, the tragic death of his older brother in a plane crash set D'Banj on a completely new course. One of the only things recovered from the crash was his brother's harmonica which D'Banj instantly fell in love with and he soon became a self-taught master of the instrument. The next few years saw him becoming more and more involved in music despite the growing disapproval from his father over his career choice. In 2004 he joined forces with producer Michael "Don Jazzy" Ajereh to create Mo Hits records (www.mohitsrecords.com). The years that followed turned D'Banj into not only a household name throughout Nigeria, but one of Africa's brightest young stars, achieving accolades most artists can only dream of.

'Oliver Twist' was launched in Africa with a Youtube dance competition which instantly went viral, attracting thousands of entrants. The eventual winners have so far received over 200k views of their entry (see second video below) . D'Banj has one burning ambition in life, and that's to become the biggest African artist alive. The release of 'Oliver Twist' marks the start of his plan for worldwide domination and looks set to be the soundtrack of the summer.
