SYDNEY, Australia (Top40 Charts/ Phantom Sound & Vision) - The drifters, loners and ne'er-do-wells on Luke Doucet The White Falcon's new album 'Blood's Too Rich' (Six Shooter, June 24th) really get around. Take the weary, eponymous hero of opener "Long Haul Driver," on the road for 2000 miles, or the in-crisis loser heading west in "Motorbike." Elsewhere, Doucet's bar rats and greasy drunkards make stops in Cleveland, Woodstock and California. These tales are married to Neil Young and Crazy Horse/The Band-inspired swaggering stompers, loping, loose guitar showcases and delicate acoustic numbers.

It's sobering to find that the stories on Blood's Too Rich are (mostly) true. If not entirely autobiographical, they are rooted in the musican's own experiences. (All of them, that is, except for the Cure cover, "The Lovecats").

Doucet is a wanderer who at 11 years-old took his first train trip across his native Canada. Alone. At 15, he became a professional musician, when his father (also a musician) joined Luke's blues band for a four-night-a-week gig at a pizza joint. He's been singing, writing and playing guitar since. At age 19, he joined Sarah McLachlan's touring band and has continued to play with her regularly. In his 20s, he was noted as the backbone of Vancouver's famed indie country rock band Veal, where he first picked up his "guitar god" reputation, and now he's one of the most in-demand guitarists in Canada.

'Blood's Too Rich' is out in Canada where the prestigious Toronto Star called it a "landmark album" in a 4/4 review. In the U.S., Doucet's last album Broken (And Other Rogue States) was named No 25 "Best Music of 2006" by PASTE magazine.

Produced by Luke himself, 'Blood's Too Rich' features his band, The White Falcon, named after the model of his beloved Gretsch guitar.
