Biography

Adam Vadel is a french songwriter, singer, musician and producer born in August 1993. At the age of 6, he starts studying music at the Erik Satie Academy of Paris where he learns about music theory, percussion and piano. He quickly becomes passionate about funk, soul and rock as he grows listening to the records of James Brown, Prince, Sly & the Family Stone, David Bowie, Michael Jackson and Santana. At 9, he performs as a pianist for the first time on stage with Tyrone Downie (The Wailers) in a latin club in the french capital. Influenced by John Bonham and Keith Moon, the young boy practices his drumming intensively and becomes fascinated by heavy rock bands such as Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, AC/DC, Aerosmith and Guns N' Roses.

As he starts high school, Vadel learns to play guitar by himself and forms his first band in which he is the lead singer and guitarist. He writes his own material and develops his musicianship by playing along to the riffs of Jimmy Page, Nile Rodgers, John Frusciante, Eddie Hazel and Slash. He also participates every week to jam sessions in the biggest jazz clubs of Paris and is soon known to be one of the best guitarists of the capital in spite of young age. At age 13, he is invited as a guest on national television, in the french Late Show called " Le Grand Journal" to present his first solo album which is released digitally.

Later on, at one of his shows at the Gibus Club he meets the president of Universal Music France, Pascal Nègre, who signs him on the record label Polydor. Vadel starts then a year of touring and performs with his band all over Europe as an opening act for Joe Cocker, Iggy Pop, P!NK and INXS. At 17, he is chosen to represent France at the White Nights Festival of St. Petersburg and wins the First People's Choice Award, which enables him to perform as a supporting act with The Doors + Ian Astbury, Woody Allen and Thin Lizzy. When he gets back from Russia, Vadel graduates and decides to dedicate himself fully to music. Because of changes in the direction and management of Polydor, he is forced to change his record label and decides to sign with EMI's label Play-On. After a few months of studio work, Play-On officially releases Vadel's first single, "Drama Queen", which in a matter of weeks gains a #1 position in the french airplay charts. In october 2012, shortly after Drama Queen's success, he releases his first eponymous record.

Today, Adam Vadel spends all of his time working in the studio and performing onstage. He often travels to Los Angeles and New York where he works with producer Nick Sansano (Sonic Youth's "Daydream Nation" and "Goo", Public Enemy's "Fear of a Black Planet") and visits american family. His record just came out in Quebec where his first two singles are already in the top 10 airplay charts, and he is currently composing all of the music for a french and canadian production, rock opera called "#: A Tale of the Future" that he has co-written. During this summer, Vadel will perform at the Montreux Jazz Festival and he will open for Santana during his European tour.
